Sony Xperia X, X Compact Android 8.0 Oreo update starts rolling out

Sony confirmed list of smartphones that will get the Android Oreo update back in August last year.  It started rolling out Oreo update for its old smartphones from October starting from Xperia XZ Premium. Now it has started rolling out the update for Sony Xperia X and Sony Xperia X Compact smartphones that were originally launched with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), and later got the Android 7.0 and 7.1 (Nougat) updates. Google rolls out February 2018 Android security update, includes Bluetooth, Camera improvements for Pixel 2

Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Pixel and Nexus devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. The  update for this month improves Bluetooth call quality for some headsets on Pixel devices and also improves Wi-Fi uplink performance, Camera performance in certain light conditions and Android Auto Projected performance for some cars for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.

OnePlus has released new open betas (Beta 5 for OnePlus 5 and Beta 3 for OnePlus 5T) that brings several new features including new pick-up gesture switcher to choose which way you slide to pick up a phone call, adds CPU security patch: CVE-2017-13218 and removes the Clipboard function after feedback from users. There is a new SMS categorization function for India to auto-sorts SMS messages into categories. You can now talk to Google Assistant in Hindi – Here’s how to enable it [Update: Only for select Hindi queries]

Update: Google India today clarified that Hindi support for the Assistant has not been launched and Hindi support is only available in the Google Assistant as part of Allo. Check out the official statement below.

The Google Assistant on Android phones and iPhones is currently available in English in India, built for English input but supporting a few selected Hindi queries. While we’ve launched the Hindi Google Assistant on Allo, it’s not available on phones yet. We are looking to bring the Assistant experience to more Indian languages over time.
