Facebook for Android has been updated to version 2.1 that brings new features including voice messaging that was present in the Facebook Messenger app, option to share or re-post news stories and photos to friend’s time line, groups or pages, other than your own time line and more new features. The Facebook Messenger for Android got the option to send quick voice messages earlier this month and the Sharing option for Facebook for Android was introduced back in November. HTC India has started teasing the upcoming launch of their flagship Butterfly Android smartphone launch on Facebook. The company posted images of the phone with a caption Guess what’s flying into town soon?. The Android smartphone was originally launched on Japan’s KDDI network back in October, released as Droid DNA in the U.S. and it was announced for global markets in December. Samsung GT-N5100 that was spotted in GLBenchmark website last month has got a name. According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5100) at MWC 2013 next month. It would have a 8.0-inch (1280 × 800 pixels) TFT Super Clear LCD display and run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It would come with a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

The Ascend G600 was announced in August last year, and packs a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) IPS capactive touch screen display with 178 degree viewing angle, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with BSI sensor for better low-light imaging, Dual LED Flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. It also has Dual DTS SRS Speakers for better audio output. Intex has launched Aqua Flash and Aqua Trendy, 2 new Dual SIM Android smartphones in the Aqua series. The Intex Aqua Flash is the company’s high-end Smartphone that has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) Capacitive multi-touch Touch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Intex Aqua Trendy comes with a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz dual-core processor and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The Aqua Flash has a 8MP rear camera, while the Aqua Trendy comes with a 3.2 MP rear camera. Both these phones have a 1.3MP front-facing camera. Times Internet has launched official Gaana Music app that would let users discover and listen to songs in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and 21 other languages. You can also create playlists and get recommendations for songs, if you login with your Gaana account. This app is available for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Samsung Bada 2.0 and Nokia Symbian and Java phones. Hope the company launches the Gaana app for Windows Phone devices soon. Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus (GT-S5301), successor of the Galaxy Pocket has surfaced online along with the complete specs. The design looks similar to the Galaxy Pocket. According to SamMobile, it would have similar features including a 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touch screen display, 2 megapixel camera and a 1200 mAh battery. It would run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Samsung announced the Galaxy Pocket in March last year, that launched in India in April. Acer has launched the ICONIA B1, the company’s first affordable Android tablet in India. It was announced last week at CES 2013. It comes with a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display, runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek MT 8317T processor. Idea has launched the Ivory, the company’s first phone with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It features a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display similar to the Idea AURUS that was launched last September, but this has a 1 GHz processor. It comes with Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) support similar to the other Idea Smartphones. It comes with a 2MP rear camera. Asus has announced the MeMo Pad, their new affordable 7-inch tablet after the CES 2013. The Asus MeMO Pad has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), similar to the Acer Iconia B1-A71 that was announced at CES last week, but this tablet is powered by a 1GHz WonderMedia PRIZM WM8950 processor instead of a dual-core Mediatek processor. It has a 1MP front-facing camera with BSI sensor, 720p HD video capture at 30 fps. It has non-slip diamond-patterned finish at the back. Samsung has announced that the combined sales (supply chain) of the Samsung Galaxy S, the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy S3 has crossed 100 million globally. The combined sales of the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 crossed 50 million back in June 2012. The Samsung Galaxy S was introduced back in May 2010, and it took 2 years and 7 months for the S series phones to reach 100 million sales mark.
