Aircel announced a new first-of-its-kind Free Basic Internet offer for its customers last month. Today it launched it in Jammu & Kashmir. All new prepaid customers in J&K can now browse and actively use their favorite applications such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter at Rs. 144, which offers unlimited data with a speed of 64Kbps and 90 days validity. The offer is aimed at fuelling mobile internet adoption in J&K, keeping in view that a considerable population of mobile phone users is still offline, said the company.

These packs provide consumers the freedom from multiple recharges, while giving great value for money and is specially targeted at students, housewives, and new users, who have a consistent but limited data usage, said the company. The Idea Freedom packs come with 28 days validity. The Rs. 100 pack offers 300 MB of 2G data, and the Rs. 175 pack offers 500 MB of 3G data. Airtel has launched its 4G LTE services in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, after it launched it in Chennai, Pondicherry, Vellore, Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore & Tirupur. Reliance Communications (RCOM) today announced that it will acquire Sistema’s Indian wireless business, carried on by Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. (SSTL) under the MTS brand funded entirely by stock. It will acquire approx. 9 million customers and approximately Rs. 1,500 crore of annual revenues by virtue of the transaction, said the company. Motorola has announced the most expected DROID Turbo 2 smartphone along with the DROID Maxx 2. The DROID Turbo 2 is an enhanced version of the Moto X Style that packs a slightly smaller 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED 540 ppi display. It also has Moto ShatterShield, the world’s first shatterproof display. Motorola says that the display is guaranteed not to crack or shatter for up to 4 years. It packs a Snapdragon 810 processor, runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and is upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 3760mAh battery, slightly bigger than the Moto X Style and has the same front and rear cameras. The DROID Maxx 2 is a variant of Moto X Play.
