WhatsApp is finally available for the JioPhone that is powered by KaiOS. At the annual AGM back in July, Reliance Jio chairman said that YouTube, WhatsApp and an improved Facebook app will be available for JioPhone from 15th August. After a month’s delay, WhatsApp is now available. The app has been built specially for Jio KaiOS, a web based operating system designed for JioPhone, so that its users get the best experience.

After signing agreements back in March last year, Vodafone India and Aditya Birla Group’s telecom arm Idea Cellular have announced that the merger has been completed. Idea Cellular has been renamed as ‘Vodafone Idea Limited’ and the service provider has subscriber base of over 408 million (as of June 2018) with 1 RMS in 9 circles, broadband network of 340,000 sites, and widest distribution reach with 1.7 million retail outlets. Airtel has expanded its partnership with Netflix in India under which subscribers of select Airtel Postpaid and V-Fiber Home Broadband plans will receive a three-month gift of a Netflix subscription. Post that they can pay the Netflix subscription seamlessly, using their Airtel postpaid or home broadband bill. Existing Netflix subscribers will also be eligible for this gift. Subscribers not eligible for the gift will be able to sign up to Netflix through Airtel’s apps and pay for their subscription using their Airtel bill.
