T-Mobile and Sprint merger approved by US Department of Justice

Back in 2017, T-Mobile and Sprint ceased discussions to merge into a single entity since they could not find mutually agreeable terms. But last year, both the companies agreed to merge in a deal valued at US$146 billion. In similar lines, now, the Department of Justice has approved T-Mobile and Sprint merger to create the new T-Mobile.

Reliance Jio reports Rs. 891 crore profit in FY Q1 2019-20, JioGigaFiber trials in final stages

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 11679 crore revenue, up 5.2 % QoQ and 44% YoY and a net profit of 891 crore, up 6.1% QoQ and 45.6% YoY for its eigth quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 30th June
2019.  Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 4,686 crore, up 8.2% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 40.1%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 3,029 crore, up 17.2% QoQ . Airtel 4G Hotspot now available for Postpaid users with Rs. 1000 cashback

Airtel 4G hotspot device got a price cut back in 2017 and also received its second price cut recently and users were able to avail monthly data along with the 4G Hotspot device instead of purchasing the device and data separately. But, today, the company has restored the hotspot to its original price of Rs. 2000 and has also introduced a cashback offer for Airtel Postpaid customers.

Airtel strengthen 4G network with LTE 900 technology as 3G network shuts down in Kolkata

Airtel today announced that it has shutdown its 3G network in Kolkata, and only 4G network will be available in the city. It has refarmed the 900 MHz band spectrum being used for 3G to further strengthen its 4G network, which will be rolled out across the country in phased manner. It has deployed state-of-the-art L900 technology in the 900 MHz band to complement its 4G services in the 2300 Mhz and 1800 Mhz bands.

Airtel launches 4G services in Lakshadweep Islands

Airtel today launched 4G services in Lakshadweep, and the company claims that it is the first mobile operator to launch 4G services in the island, however BSNL had launched 4G services in Kavaratti back in November last year. Airtel 4G services will be available in Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti to begin with and will be gradually expanded to other islands of the archipelago. AT&T now lets you pay your phone bills with Bitcoin

AT&T has become the first major U.S. mobile carrier to accept payment in cryptocurrency. AT&T customers can now use BitPay to pay online bills using Bitcoin (BTC). Customers will be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their accounts online or with the myAT&T app.

EE to launch 5G services in six cities in UK on May 30

EE; UK’s mobile network that is part of BT Group today announced that it will launch 5G in Uk starting in six cities: London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast from May 30th. It will also introduce new 5G plans, a range of six new 5G smartphones and devices. Airtel launches Rs. 249 pre-paid plan with Rs. 4 lakh Life Insurance cover and Rs.129 plan with unlimited calling

Airtel has been revising its prepaid and postpaid plans recently and last week, the company launched a new Rs.299 prepaid recharge plan with Amazon Prime subscription bundled. Similarly, today, Airtel has launched two new prepaid recharge plans i.e., Rs. 129 plan and Rs.249 prepaid recharge plan. The Rs.249 prepaid recharge plan also comes with Rs.4 Lakhs Life Insurance bundled.
