But last year, both the companies agreed to merge in a deal valued at US$146 billion. Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 11679 crore revenue, up 5.2 % QoQ and 44% YoY and a net profit of 891 crore, up 6.1% QoQ and 45.6% YoY for its eigth quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 30th June
2019. Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 4,686 crore, up 8.2% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 40.1%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 3,029 crore, up 17.2% QoQ . Airtel today announced that it has shutdown its 3G network in Kolkata, and only 4G network will be available in the city. It has refarmed the 900 MHz band spectrum being used for 3G to further strengthen its 4G network, which will be rolled out across the country in phased manner. It has deployed state-of-the-art L900 technology in the 900 MHz band to complement its 4G services in the 2300 Mhz and 1800 Mhz bands.
After rolling out Airtel Thanks benefits for its pre-paid and post-paid customers, the company is now extending the offer to its V-Fiber home broadband customers. Airtel today launched 4G services in Lakshadweep, and the company claims that it is the first mobile operator to launch 4G services in the island, however BSNL had launched 4G services in Kavaratti back in November last year. Airtel 4G services will be available in Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti to begin with and will be gradually expanded to other islands of the archipelago. EE; UK’s mobile network that is part of BT Group today announced that it will launch 5G in Uk starting in six cities: London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast from May 30th. It will also introduce new 5G plans, a range of six new 5G smartphones and devices. The company announced 5G roll out plans last year.
