Lenovo launched the Vibe Z2 Pro smartphone in India back in September . We reviewed the smartphone recently, here are the benchmarks of the Vibe Z2 Pro. It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 578 MHz. It has a 6-inch ( 2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD display  and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS with Vibe 2.0 UI on  top.  Several flagship smartphones have a Snapdragon 801 SoC, but very few smartphones feature a Quad HD display. Let’s check out the performance in a range of synthetic benchmark tests.

O2 launches data sharer plans for individuals and families

O2 has followed in the footsteps of its rival networks and today has launched data sharer plans for individuals and families in the UK. The new plans, which start at £6 per month, offer up to 8GB data which can be shared across multiple devices or between family members. The Sharer Plan and Family Sharer Plan uses a customer’s data bundle and allows them to share it either across multiple devices and smart technology or between devices owned by different members of the family. Vodafone could bundle Now TV with its Broadband

Vodafone is reportedly in talks with Sky to base its upcoming TV service around the broadcaster’s internet streaming set-top box service, Now TV. The deal is likely to result in further enhanced collaboration between the two companies and add further fuel to the rumours that Sky will launch its own mobile network based on Vodafone’s network. TalkTalk drops Vodafone for O2 4G

TalkTalk has announced that it is dropping its partnership with Vodafone in favour of a similar deal with O2’s parent company Telefonica. In an announcement, TalkTalk said that the deal will allow it to access O2’s 2G, 3G and 4G network and the change represents a blow for Vodafone as the telecoms operator war rises another few degrees. Nokia Networks bags dual band, dual carrier 3G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has announced that it has grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that includes India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation, refarming 900 MHz to complement Mumbai’s existing 3G network on 2100 MHz. This would enable advanced radio platform and services, thus improved 3G services for Bharti Airtel’s customers in Mumbai, West Bengal and Bihar telecom circles, said the company. Aircel launches 3G services in Mumbai, launches plans with extra data for Facebook and Whatsapp usage

Aircel has launched their 3G services in Mumbai that is available for both mobile phones and 3G dongles. Mumbai becomes the third circle where the company has launched its 3G services this year after Delhi and Rajasthan. Aircel customers can just recharge by opting for a tariff plan to get the 3G activated. The tariff plans include, 3G data benefits, voice calls and upto 300 MB of Free Facebook and Whatsapp. The internet pack starts from as low as Rs. 13 and goes till Rs. 195 for 1GB of data. Vodafone to launch UK broadband and TV services next Spring

EE may have just launched their own fixed broadband and TV service in the UK but chief rival Vodafone is close behind. Whilst talking about the Group’s fixed service income, Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao noted that the company was set to launch its own residential broadband and TV service in the UK in Spring 2015.

EE TV now available from EE Stores

EE’s new television service, EE TV, is now available to buy from EE Stores in the UK the network has announced. Unveiled last month, EE TV allows customers to view live and recorded programmes on their TV, smartphones and tablets whenever they are at home. Vodafone UK bundles NOW TV with 4G contracts

Vodafone UK have added Sky’s NOW TV service to the list of content that Vodafone 4G customers can opt for as part of their contract. NOW TV will join Spotify, Sky Sports Mobile TV and Netflix as options available to customers in the UK.

EE says UK national roaming is a ‘flawed concept’

Earlier this week we heard that the UK government was considering introducing legislation to allow customers to roam across any mobile network when they had no coverage.  The move was expected to be unpopular with the networks and an EE spokesperson has told Mobile the network believes ‘national roaming’ is a ‘flawed concept’ which would ‘deteriorate network reliability for tens of millions across the UK’.  Continue reading “EE says UK national roaming is a ‘flawed concept’”

UK government could introduce law to fix mobile ‘black spots’

You know the feeling – where you’re in an unfamiliar area with nothing but your mobile device for guidance and you’re in a mobile ‘black spot’. The term refers to an area where there is absolutely zero coverage on a particular mobile network and this long-standing problem (especially in rural areas of the UK) could soon be a thing of the past.
