Intel’s roadmap suggests new smartphone and tablet chips coming during MWC 2014

Intel is the company everybody knew because of processors that still power the everyday PCs and laptops. But the sales of PCs and laptops has been outdone by the sales of smartphones and tablets. People are moving on and portable devices are the new thing. Intel has been producing chips for the smartphones and tablets, but it hasn’t earned much of a consideration from the manufacturers who seem to be more than content with ARM based SoCs. Intel has to fight hard to survive this battle and looks like they are having another go at the smartphone and tablet market in the upcoming MWC 2014.

Acer teases new Liquid smartphone for MWC 2014

Samsung introduces new LED Components including Reflector-integrated LED flash for Galaxy S5

Samsung has unveiled a range of  LED component solutions, that include two reflector-integrated flash LED packages (3432 1.8t (FH341A) and 3432 1.4t (FH341B) ), a flip-chip flash LED 2016 (FH201A), as well as two side-view LEDs (the 3810 0.6t (MS062F) and 3810 0.8t (MS082F)) for smartphones and tablets. ZTE preps Grand Memo II, Open C for MWC 2014 alongside its MiFavor 2.3 UI

We have less than a week for one of the most anticipated events of the mobile world – MWC 2014 and ZTE, one of the many Chinese manufacturers has revealed its plans for the MWC 2014. According to ZTE, they will be launching the successor of the original Grand Memo smartphone and they will also be launching their Firefox device – ZTE Open C.

Huawei calls Apple the “Fruit” and Samsung “Some song” in its bizarre MWC14 teaser

Huawei is gearing up to introduce a range of new products at the Mobile World Congress event this year, but before doing so, the Chinese company has readied a bizarre teaser to explain the kind of products it is launching. First off, why the video is bizarre is because it uses an “Apple” iPhone with a Siri-like voice assistant, to mock “Apple” and Samsung, calling them the “Fruit” and “Some song” respectively. Nevertheless, it gives us a taste of what we can expect from the company, when it reveals its products at this year’s biggest mobile event, the Mobile World Congress. Here’s the video –

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet specifications leaked: Snapdragon 800, Android 4.4 KitKat and 3GB RAM

Last year Sony launched the Xperia Tablet Z, the company’s first 10-inch waterproof tablet. evleaks has just leaked the specifications of the Xperia Z2 Tablet ahead of MWC 2014. The successor would have the same 10.1-inch HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display, but this would be powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor instead of Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. BlackBerry Z3 affordable BB10 smartphone press shots, specifications leaked ahead of MWC

BlackBerry recently announced that it would partner with Foxconn to produce affordable BlackBerry 10 devices. According to the new leak from the BBin, the BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta would have a 5-inch qHD screen, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and come with 1.5 GB of RAM. It would come with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.1-megapixel front-facing camera. LG L Series III smartphones L40, L70 and L90 running Android 4.4 announced

LG has just announced their L Series III smartphone lineup that includes, L40, L70 and L90. These smartphones run on Android 4.4 (KitKat). These have seamless layout, delicate finishing, narrow bezel and refined metallic frame to give premium looks similar to the G Series, says LG. It also has Quick Window cover. LG unveiled the Optimus L3, L5 and the L7 at the MWC 2012 and announced the L Series II smartphones at the MWC 2013 last year. LG has posted some hits on their Facebook page that reveals that the LG G2 Mini would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It says Experience the MINI. Mobile World Congress. 2014-02-24. The image shows the LG G2 along with a back of a small-sized phone with rear hardware buttons, which would probable be the LG G2 mini. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to be priced reasonably

Samsung launched their first smart watch – Samsung Galaxy Gear back in IFA 2013 alongside their current flagship – Galaxy Note 3. A couple of weeks remain for MWC 2014 and there are clear indications that Samsung will unveil their next generation Galaxy S series flagship – Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014. Apart from the obvious fact, Samsung is also rumored to be launching their next version of smart watch – Galaxy Gear 2 at MWC 2014.

LG G Pro 2 might be unveiled on February 13th in Korea

LG has scheduled an event in Korea on February 13th, reports the ZDNET Korea. The invite just says knock-knock knockin’ on, which doesn’t reveal what we could see at the event. The LG G2 had Knock ON, double tap to wake up feature, which was very useful to unlock the phone since the phone had rear buttons. So the G Pro 2 would obviously have this feature. Motorola schedules an MWC appearance on February 25

Motorola is being thrown here and there in terms of ownership – first they were owned by Google and now they are in the hands of a Chinese manufacturer, Lenovo. After being acquired by Google, Motorola has managed to deliver two near stock Android smartphones – Moto X and Moto G. The Moto X was exclusively made for US while the Moto G was made for emerging countries. Moto G was launched in India on February 5th, 2014. They were just recently acquired by Lenovo.

HTC M8 – HTC One successor, leaked online with two cameras on the back

Things haven’t really gone HTC’s way since the rise of droids and HTC is trying to pull back things with their premium offerings. Last year, HTC announced their current flagship – HTC One to the delight of many Android lovers. HTC One defined styled in the Android smartphone market and came with an exceptional build quality and aluminum unibody. But the problem with the HTC One was their new UltraPixel technology which din’t harness the results they would have expected. HTC went on to use the same HTC One design and build for the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max. Suddenly we had three similarly built devices lurking in various price ranges.

Samsung schedules Unpacked event for Feb 24th to unveil Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung is expected to announce the next iteration of Galaxy S series sometime soon and there were early rumors that Samsung will be holding an event on Feb 23rd, but it turns out that they are holding the unpacked event on Feb 24th, just on the starting day of MWC 2014. The event invite tells us that this is Samsung’s Unpacked event 5 and it also mentions it as episode 1. The event will take place in Barcelona.
