FoneArena is live from Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress 2014!

The FoneArena team is live from the world’s biggest mobile focused event – the Mobile World Congress 2014 from Barcelona, Spain. The city has been hosting this event for 5 years and this is FoneArena’s fifth year at this grand event where countless number of companies introduce new products around the mobile ecosystem. Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo smartwatches with Tizen OS to go on sale in April

It wasn’t too long ago that Samsung announced its first generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Aimed at competing with the likes of Pebble and anticipated competition from Apple, the original Galaxy Gear was a relative failure because of its high price point, poor battery life and limited compatibility. Fast forward five months and Samsung is all set to show off its next gen Gear 2 smartwatch that eschews Android for the Korean company’s homegrown Tizen OS.

The new smartwatch will retail in two variants ie the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The Galaxy branding has been dropped because of the transition from Android to Tizen. Specifications of the watch remain largely the same and include a 1GHz dual core processor, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM and a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED touch screen. The watch also incorporates S Voice, a heart rate monitor, pedometer for health related applications. It also has IP67 certification for water, dust resistance. We had seen several reports, including reports from Korean websites claiming that the Galaxy Gear 2 would launch at the MWC 2014. There were also rumors about Samsung unveiling two Galaxy Gear smartwatches at the event. Thanks to evleaks, now we know that these would be called Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo. YotaPhone 2 expected to be unveiled at MWC next week

Yota Devices, a Russia-based company, popular for its Dual-Screen YotaPhone has started teasing about their MWC launch next week. On their Facebook page, it said, ” You will be blown away when you see what we’ll unveil next week at MWC in Barcelona.” This doesn’t confirm anything, but a recent report from a Russian website hi-tech.mail.ru and Russian daily Kommersant reveals that the YotaPhone 2 would arrive at MWC 2014. ARCHOS has announced their MWC 2014 lineup that includes, ARCHOS 80 Helium 4G, the company’s first 8-inch 4G tablet, ARCHOS 50c Oxygen smartphone with Octa Core MediaTek chip, ARCHOS 64 Xenon with a 6.4-inch HD screen and ARCHOS 40b Titanium, and entry-level smartphone priced at 100 GBP. Samsung releases new “The Next Galaxy” teaser video, hints at the upcoming Galaxy S5

Mobile World Congress 2014(MWC 2014) is just a couple of days away and we are pretty sure that Samsung will unveil their next flagship smartphone – Samsung Galaxy S5, at the unpacked event on February 24th. Just ahead of the official unveiling, Samsung has released a 37 second teaser video that highlights various features of the upcoming Galaxy S5.

Oral B introduces World’s First Bluetooth ToothBrush for a Smart Connected Bathroom

Among many things that will be introduced in the next week at MWC 2014, Oral-B, a toothbrush manufacturer, has announced the world’s first BlueTooth connected electronic toothbrush as a part of Smart Connected Bathroom. The new innovative Bluetooth toothbrush will be showcased at the upcoming MWC 2014 and we will be surely bringing a hands on video right from the show floor.

Broadcom introduces BCM4771, the first GNSS SoC for wearable devices

Broadcom, today announced the industry’s first Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) system-on-chip (SoC), BCM4771 for low-power wearable devices such as smart watches and fitness trackers. We had already seen Intel Edison, a 22nm ultra-small computer based on Quark technology. The Broadcom SoC is based on 40nm process technology and has sensor hub that integrates sensor inputs, location capabilities, wireless connectivity and more. HTC A5 specifications leaked, could be headed for MWC 2014

HTC may not be announcing its flagship at MWC 2014, but it isn’t coming empty handed. HTC Desire 8 is a mid-range device headed for the Chinese market and the rumored HTC A5 may be the international variant of the HTC Desire 8. HTC Desire 8 is expected to be unveiled on February 24th in China and we are expecting to see the HTC A5 at the upcoming MWC 2014.

Acer unveiled the Liquid Z5 with a 5-inch FWVA display earlier this year, today the company has announced the Liquid Z4, ahead of MWC 2014. It has a 4-inch capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with f2.4 lens, LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Acer has announced the Liquid E3, successor of last year’s Liquid E2 ahead of MWC 2014. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.. We didn’t see any new Exnos SoC at the CES 2014 last month. Samsung has started teasing their upcoming Exynos Infinity chip that would be unveiled at the MWC 2014 next week. This Exynos Infinity is expected to be the successor of the Exynos 5 Octa and is likely to be featured in a variant of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. LG has finally made the G2 Mini official ahead of Mobile World Congress 2014. It has a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor (Snapdragon 400 or Nvidia Tegra 4i options), and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. You have rear mounted power and volume keys. Unlike the G2, the G2 Mini has matte back. Nokia MWC 2014 teaser hints at Nokia X Android smartphone

Nokia has finally unveiled their plans for the MWC 2014 next week. It sent out Invites for the event last week. Now the company has posted a large image in green color that indicates the letter X. We already know that Nokia is planning to release the Nokia X phone at the MWC. It was previously called Project Normady. Evleaks already revealed a range of press shots. It recently posted an image of the phone in green color, that matches the teaser. It also revealed the complete specifications of the phone.
