Alcatel One Touch has launched the One Touch Hero and six new One Touch Idol series smartphones in India. The One Touch Hero was unveiled at IFA last year and packs a 6-inch 1080p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB and a 3400 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo has started receiving Android 4.4 (KitKat) update India. It was launched in India back in February this year running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). The Galaxy Grand 2 got the KitKat update in India last month. As you can see from the image, the changelog is similar to the other Samsung smartphones. MediaTek Inc., one of the world’s leading SoC makers has launched a new Research & Development (R&D) facility at Bengaluru, India. The company would develop innovative solutions for wireless communications and concentrate on core segments like connectivity & home entertainment devices in the facility. It also said the it would invest US$ 200 million for expansion in India, during the course of the next few years. Lava has launched the Iris Pro 30+, the company’s latest flagship smartphone and the successor of Iris Pro 30 that was also launched earlier this year. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display based on OGS technology, 7.9mm slim and 116 gram light-weight body. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, 1.1 micron OmniVision BSI 2 sensor and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Xolo has unveiled the Q610s smartphone, successor of Q600 that was launched back in May. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA On-cell IPS display and has a compact body with width of just 64.3mm, height of 128mm and screen-to-body ratio of more than 74%. Compared to 129.9x 65.9mm in terms of height and width of the Moto G that also has a 4.5-inch display, this is more compact. The Broadcom processor that was present in the Q600s has been replaced by a quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). This eliminates the need for multiple rentals for voice and data, since it comes with voice, data and SMS benefits. The Vodafone RED plans are available starting from Rs. 499 and the Vodafone RED4Business plans are available from Rs. 666. The Vodafone RED4Business is segmented into two user groups of IOIP (Individual Owned Individual Paid) and COCP (Corporate Owned Corporate Paid). Benefits vary depending on the plan. Earlier this month there were reports that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning to implement charges for over-the-top (OTT) players of apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Skype etc. TRAI has rejected the proposal of carriers to make OTT players that offer these services share part of their revenue with them or the government, according to a report from The Economic Times. Later the company launched the Galaxy S5 Duos (SM-G900FD) with LTE Cat 4. support in markets like UAE, and it is calling it Galaxy S5 Duos LTE. We managed get one.
