I’ve been a long time cellphone connoisseur, and have used phones from all major platforms such as Blackberry OS, iPhone OS X, S60v3, S60v5, and WM6/6.1. Last week, Apple announced a new iPhone. The question that arose after the keynote was – Should you get it?
N97 aside, the N85 is one of the most recent Nseries devices offering a range of features and combining the best of Nokia into one handset. Many people are calling it the N95 successor, or the better N95 as it takes the flagship’s dual slide design but adds a lot more to it in terms of battery, RAM, internal memory and hardware features. Here is an image review of the N85, but we also have a video review that we will publish later.
The N85 is a slider device. The main unit packs a 2.6″ screen with an accelerometer that rotates the display to landscape when needed. On top of it is the speakerphone with the front camera and the light sensor. Below it are the d-pad which also functions as a Navi-Wheel, the multimedia key and the red and green call keys. We grabbed some pics of the Nokia N86 8MP at the launch event in India yesterday. The phone fits really well in the hand and the build quality is really good. There was no wobbling even though the phone has a 2 way slider mechanism. The keypad is really nice with large keys. The home screen had a new clock but could not figure out what exactly it was.The design is very similar to the N85 but its not glossy but a matte finish. Here is the monster 8 MP Camera with Carl Zeiss optics on the back.
It has a nice shutter and the keystand is also present around the camera. A nice metallic is present around the corners of the device and even in the menu key.

Nokia is calling its phones mobile computers. Nokia N97 is certainly a mobile multimedia monster.Even a 2 year old kid called the N97 a laptop when he looked at the pictures of the phone.With over 32 GB of inbuilt memory and a microSD memory card slot, the N97 can store hours of music and videos. I am really excited about watching movies on its 16×9 inch screen.Also the tile angle of the screen seems interesting.

Today’s question : What are the first six letters in the modern day keyboard layout ? There are a lot of interesting things about the keyboard on the phone.Its got 3 rows of keys which are nicely spaced apart.The first question I asked N97 Designer, Axel Meyer was about the space bar on the QWERTY keypad.The space bar is pretty tiny and finds it place on the right side. Normally one would expect a larger spacebar and also positioned at the center. But Axel suggested that I use the keyboard for a while and see how it worked. After I used the space bar on the right, i actually found it easy to use. It seems that this new keyboard follows haptics effectively(Haptics is study of human touching behaviour)

We were at the Nokia N97 Launch Event in Bangalore yesterday and we got a great opportunity to talk to Axel Meyer, Head of Nokia Design. The N97 was showcased to bloggers in the event.

I got my hands on the Nokia E75 Red Edition. I have been using this phone for the past few weeks after you saw the unboxing video.
The phone is attractive and fits nicely in the hand. The Camera has got some serious improvement over the E71. Music playback is good. I have been checking 3 email accounts and like the email application

We were invited to the launch of the Nokia’s Take-Back initiative in Chennai related to recycling phones.
The event marked the nationwide roll-out of the Take-Back recycling program in over 15 cities in India.
Nokia will plant a tree for every phone dropped in the Recycle bins spread accross the country
Making Eco-Friendly products and controlling the carbon footprint of phones seems to be one of the goals of the company
Dr.Ambrish Bakaya , Director Corporate Affairs was present at the event. We had the chance to interview him
Padmashri Shobana , Dancer and Actor was also present at the event and she contributed her old phone for the the cause.
