Apple has successfully stopped Xiaomi from trademarking Mi Pad tablet in Europe as an EU trademark as the name was too similar to Apple’s iPad. The European Union’s second-highest court, the General Court has ruled against Xiaomi and said that it should not register as a trademark. Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with 5.7-inch / 5.99-inch full-screen display, Snapdragon 450 / 625 announced

Xiaomi just announced the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphone at an event in China as it had promised. The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 full-screen display, is powered by Snapdragon 450 and packs a 3300mAh battery, while the Redmi 5 Plus comes with a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 full-screen display, is powered by Snapdragon 625 and packs a 4000mAh battery. Both these run Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9.

Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845

At the second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform as the successor to Snapdragon 835 that most flagship smartphones this year. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun at the event said that Qualcomm has always been part of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone launches right from the Mi 1 that was introduced back in 2011 and the next flagship Xiaomi smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. He said that 238 million Xiaomi smartphones are powered by Qualcomm processors.

When everyone is waiting for the Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi just sent out invites for the announcement of Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones at an event in China on December 7th. The company has also teased the smartphone in several images that confirm its design. New smartphones with model numbers MDT1 and MDE1 have been certified by TENAA today with 18:9 displays, so this will likely be the Redmi 5.

According to IDC’s latest India Monthly City-Level Smartphone Tracker, 50 major cities of India accounted for 50% of smartphone sales in Q3 2017 with a growth of 27% from the previous quarter. Goods and Services Tax (GST) was revised for some products in India earlier this month. Xiaomi today slashed the price of most of its accessories in the country. This includes Power Banks, Mi Charger, Mi Car Charger, USB Cable, Cases and Screen Protectors. Price cut vary depending on the device starting from Rs. 20 for USB Fan and screen protectors and goes up to Rs. 200 for the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2. Check out the list below.

Xiaomi India to launch ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ on November 30, Redmi 5A expected

Xiaomi just announced the launch of a new Redmi smartphone on November 30th, few weeks after the launch of new Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in the new ‘Y series’ in the country. The company is calling it Desh Ka Smartphone, so it will likely be the a budget smartphone. This could the Redmi 5A that was introduced in China last month as the successor to the Redmi 4A. Even the image in the teaser looks somewhat similar to the Redmi 5A.
