Xiaomi has officially announced its latest mid-range smartphone, the REDMI Note 17 Pro, in China, as it had promised, positioned as a high-capacity battery device with robust environmental protections.
Design, Durability, and Display
The REDMI Note 17 Pro is constructed using a four-micro-curved wraparound side frame, giving the chassis a distinctly contoured edge. The rear panel houses a rectangular camera module that shifts the aesthetics of the brand’s mid-tier lineup. The phone measures 8.46mm in thickness and has a total weight of 226g.
A defining structural highlight is its environmental durability. The phone carries comprehensive ingress protection certifications, meeting IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K standards. This ensures high resistance against dust, immersion in water, and high-pressure/high-temperature water jets.
On the front, the device features a 6.83-inch display panel with a 1.5K resolution. The screen achieves a peak brightness of 3,500 nits and integrates Xiaomi’s proprietary “Green Mountain” eye protection system. Notably, the hardware is capable of dimming down to as low as 1 nit in dark environments to minimize eye strain.
Performance, Camera, and Battery Lifecycle
Under the hood, the smartphone operates on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, paired with a massive 9,000mAh built-in battery. The device balances this capacity by supporting 67W wired fast charging alongside 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing users to use the device as a power bank for secondary electronics. For photography, the rear configuration centers on a 50MP main camera sensor.
To accompany the initial market release, Xiaomi introduced a unique consumer incentive program specifically targeting long-term battery health. First-time buyers receive a free five-year battery upgrade warranty, structured as follows:
- Years 1 to 4: If the battery health index drops below 80% during this timeframe, the consumer qualifies for a free battery replacement.
- Year 5: If the battery health falls below 80% during the fifth year of ownership, Xiaomi offers a free upgrade to a larger-capacity battery.
