Nokia today announced a much awaited update for the Nokia N8’s camera application. The update being pushed out via Beta Labs adds support for Continuous Auto Focus in videos alongside 30FPS video recording.
Nokia has started rolling out Symbian Anna update yesterday, for Symbian^3 phones like Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01. You can now update your devices to Symbian Anna at your nearest Nokia Care Center or Nokia Priority Partner for free. Nokia has announced that the much awaited Symbian Anna update is finally available for Symbian phones such as the N8, C7 , E7 and C6-01. The update brings a new UI along with some improvements in messaging , maps and the browser. The update is available through Ovi Suite and as an Over The Air update.The Over the Air normally takes a bit longer to appear so you can try using Ovi Suite to check if your phone has received the update. Looks like Nokia is still supporting Meego and Symbian as it plans to launch over 300 apps for Symbian , Meego and Windows Phone devices over the next 12 months. The handset maker has entered into an agreement with mobile app developer Polar Mobile to launch apps for top media brands. The first 50 apps will be available on Nokia Ovi Store for Symbian phones.All these apps are expected to use the Qt framework which enables developers to reuse code across various mobile platforms. It’s not clear what is the strategy for Windows Phone as there Qt does not support the platform as of now. When Nokia and Microsoft announced their partnership both the companies promised to out WP devices at all price points including the budget segment. If rumors are to be believed , the Tango update will do just that by bringing the same Windoes Phone experience at a lower than ever price point.
This latest comes from Marey Jo Foley who states that the update might mostly or exclusively target the Asian markets. The Tango update is expected to be available sometime early next year. Blogs of Mobiles have got hold of a carrier testing report which mentions Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone Mango based smartphone called the Sea Ray.
The Nokia N9 which will be Nokia’s first and only MeeGo device is eagerly awaited by people all over the world but it seems that America will not be able to experience the awesomeness of the user interface. Engadget has been reaching out to Nokia for a comment regarding availability of the device and sadly the answer is no. The reply can be read below in its entirety.
FCC certifications for the upcoming Nokia 701 have been spotted by the guys at Engadget. This combined with the previous UA Profile leak confirm the existence of the device. Considering that FCC approval is the last step before being available in the market , it seems the phone will be announced quite soon.
