LG Q3 2015 profits down 37% YoY due to weak smartphone sales

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 14.03 trillion won (US$ 12 billion) in Q3 2015, 4.7% down compared to the same quarter last year with operating profit of 294 billion won (US$ 251.5 million), down 36.77% from the same period the previous year. Net profit was 124.8 billion won (US$ 106.76 million) during the quarter, down from 202.7 billion won a year earlier. Reason for less revenue is due to weak smartphone sales, but it reported strong earnings in home appliances and high-end televisions. Google Nexus 5X Benchmarks

Google launched the Nexus 5X smartphone made by LG in India earlier this month, which went on sale last week starting at Rs. 31,990. We had already brought you the hands on impressions and the unboxing of the smartphone, here we have the benchmarks. The Nexus 5X is powered by an Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit 20nm processor that has two bigger ARM Cortex A57 cores clocked at 1.82GHz per core and four smaller ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.44GHz per core with 600 MHz Adreno 418 GPU. LG G4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to roll out starting next week

LG just announced that it would start rolling out Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for its flagship LG G4 smartphone from next week starting from Poland. This would be followed by other key markets in Europe, Asia and the Americas, said the Korean giant. Roll out details will be announced when it becomes available in local markets. The darling of the Android world, the Nexus 5 finally saw an update earlier this month when Google announced the new LG Nexus 5x. Of course, the first question that accompanies such a launch is regarding launch details for India. So when we received this not so mysterious invitation, there’s no doubt that we were ecstatic over the prospective launch of the new Nexus devices in India, particularly the LG made Nexus 5x. LG V10 goes on sale in Korea today, pricing revealed

LG announced its flagship V10 smartphone in the new V series with a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Quantum display, a second 2.1-inch (160 x 1040 pixels) screen and dual 5-megapixel front-facing camera cameras that has two separate lenses to capture standard 80 degree selfies or wide-angle selfies of 120 degrees. The company already said that it will go on sale in Korea starting this October, yesterday it confirmed that it will be available in domestic market starting from today, October 8th.

LG has announced LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, the company’s latest Android Wear smartwatch with stainless steel body. It has a better 1.38-inch 348 PPI display, compared to the 245ppi display on the first Watch Urbane. It also has built-in 4G LTE connectivity and GPS, making it the first Android Wear smartwatch to support LTE. The new Android Wear Watch from LG works with iOS too, but LG says that cellular enabled features will vary across Android and iOS. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS 2.0, Laser auto focus, manual mode for video to adjust options such as shutter speed, frame rate, ISO, white balance and focus while recording and dual 5-megapixel front-facing camera cameras that has two separate lenses to capture standard 80 degree selfies or wide-angle selfies of 120 degrees.
