Despite BlackBerry’s multiple attempts to create a developer ecosystem around the BlackBerry 10 platform, uptake has been slow. The company tried to get around this by offering an Android runtime. Developers were also free to port their Android applications and bring it to the BlackBerry application store. Savvy users could also sideload APK files directly. BlackBerry Z3 launching in India on June 25th

BlackBerry is all set to launch the BlackBerry Z3, the company’s latest BlackBerry 10 smartphone in India next week. The company has sent us press invite for the launch event scheduled for June 25th. The invite just reads it would unveil the next generation BlackBerry 10 device. BlackBerry launches BBM Protected for secure enterprise messaging

This is built for business that brings convenience and usability of BBM with the additional security and compliance for enterprise customers. BlackBerry considering to bring phablets to market: CEO John Chen

BlackBerry is keen on foraying into the tablet market to regain its market share in the highly competitive smartphone market. CEO John Chen indicated that a BlackBerry phablet might be in works, he said in an interview with The Jakarta Post.

BBM 2.2 for Android brings easier sign up and new emoticons, coming to iPhone soon

BlackBerry has updated the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for Android to version 2.2. This brings new sign up screen and new sign in screen for new and existing users respectively. The new sign up screen now has limited number of fields. You just need to give your name, email and a password. This update also adds option to invite a user via email. BBM Protected emerges in a leaked video

BlackBerry’s BBM Protected that was announced in February this year at the MWC, has come back in news. A demo video about the secure and reliable instant messaging service has surfaced online. BBM Protected is basically BBM for enterprise customers and offers secure and reliable real-time mobile messaging.

BlackBerry Runtime for Android apps updated to Android 4.3

BlackBerry has updated BlackBerry Runtime for Android apps to support Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) from Android 4.2.2 as it promised. This includes new Android APIs and a lot of new features such as support for accounts, Bluetooth LE, NFC and more. Android development app has also been updated to version 2.0.3 beta. BlackBerry to enable other companies manage BlackBerry 10 devices

BlackBerry has announced that it would enable mobile device management (MDM) companies to directly manage devices with the BlackBerry 10 operating system. AirWatch, Citrix and IBM would be the first companies to work with BlackBerry to manage BlackBerry 10 devices. This move is to offer most open and flexible mobile environments for the BlackBerry customers. BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Z3, the company’s latest affordable full-touch smartphone made by Foxconn at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It already announced that the phone would be available in Indonesia from April. It is now on pre-order from carriers Indosat and XL in the country. BBM for BlackBerry, Android and iPhone gets Stickers, option to send larger files and more

BlackBerry has announced a new BBM 2.1 update for BlackBerry, Android and iPhone that would bring stickers through new BBM Shop. This offers sticker packs, similar to stickers on the Facebook Messenger. Each pack would have 20 to 25 stickers. BBM shop has both free and paid (about $1.99) stickers. This update  also brings option to send larger files up to 16MB on BlackBerry 10, Android and iPhone.
