BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for iPhone and Android arrived last October. Both these apps got 10 million downloads in just 24 hours after resumed the launch of BBM for Android and iPhone in October last year after some issues. BlackBerry announced that it added 20 million new users a week after its roll out. At that time BlackBerry said it had 80 million monthly active users.
BlackBerry has been facing tough times the last few quarters owing to less than stellar hardware offerings and a lack of consumer interest. Even with BlackBerry 10, the company has hardly managed to stem the tide. The company’s bread and butter has been the Bold and Curve lines and as a sign of the times, both the lines have finally stopped being the volume sellers they used to be. BlackBerry Z10 received a price cut to Rs. 17,990 last month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its foray into the Indian market. BlackBerry Z10 had already received a price cut in India last year, few months after it was launched at a price tag of Rs. 43,490. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its foray into the Indian market, BlackBerry has cut the price of the BlackBerry Z10 to Rs. 17,990 for a limited period. This is the first smartphone made by Foxconn, after their strategic partnership back in December. BlackBerry would launch a smartphone powered by a 64-bit Octa-Core chip, according to a recent report from the pocket-lint. Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 which was the Exynos 5410, its first Octa-Core chip with fours Cortex A15 chips and four Cortex A7 chips. Later it released an upgraded Exynos 5420 on the Note 3.
