In late 2017, when most of the OEMs are releasing schedule for the Oreo update, a lot of budget phones that are launched still run on Android Marshmallow. Xiaomi Redmi 4A was launched back in March 2017 with MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), but Xiaomi didn’t announce anything regarding the Android update for the device till date. OnePlus released Android 8.0 (Oreo) Open Beta for OnePlus 3 and 3T last month and said that it will release the update for its OnePlus 5 users soon. Yesterday at the OnePlus 5T launch event Brian Yoon, Head of user experience design division at OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will get the Android Oreo Open Beta update this November. The latest Android distribution numbers for November are in, and they show that Android 8.0 Oreo is now on 0.3% devices, while Nougat retains to close to 17.6% devices. Though features wise Google is doing a great job, it is the adoption that is moving slow.
