At the MWC event, KaiOS Technologies announced that it is partnering with Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA, Airfind, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Doro, HMD Global, Micromax, NXP, Qualcomm to integrate with newest chipsets and offer advanced functionality on lite phones. Furthermore, KaiOS is already supported on high-performance LTE chipset platform Spreadtrum’s SC9820A which is now running on JioPhone.

Broadcom yet again bids to acquire Qualcomm at higher price

Broadcom back in November has proposed an offer to acquire Qualcomm, and the chipset maker rejected the offer saying that the proposal dramatically undervalues Qualcomm and comes with significant regulatory uncertainty. However, Broadcom today has yet again proposed an updated offer at a higher $121 billion and the all outstanding shares of Qualcomm for $60.00 per share in cash and $22.00 per share in Broadcom stock. Qualcomm hit with 997 million euro fine by the EU over Apple mobile chip deals

Update: Qualcomm has confirmed it has received a decision from the European Commission (EC) relating to an expired agreement between Qualcomm and Apple Inc., which was in effect from 2011 through 2016, for the pricing of modem chips. Qualcomm said that it strongly disagrees with the decision and will immediately appeal it to the General Court of the European Union. It also said that EC decision does not relate to Qualcomm’s licensing business and has no impact on ongoing operations. Global Smartphone SoC market grows 19%, crosses $8 Billion in revenues in Q3 2017: Report

Global smartphone SoC market has crossed $8 billion in Q3 2017 as the chipset market grew 19% according to Counterpoint Research’s Component Tracker for Q3, 2017. Despite the neck tight problems throughout the year, Qualcomm topped the list and is responsible for 42% of the total revenue generated by chipsets followed by Apple.
