Qualcomm reports $5.6 billion revenue, 4% YoY growth in FY Q3 2018, decides to terminate NXP acquisition plans

Qualcomm Incorporated today announced results for its fiscal third quarter ended June 24, 2018. The company has reported a revenue of $5.6 billion compared to $5.4 billion from the same time last year. This is a good 4% improvement YoY. KaiOS 2.5 will run on feature phones with Qualcomm, Spreadtrum chipsets with just 256MB RAM

At the MWC event, KaiOS Technologies announced that it is partnering with Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA, Airfind, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Doro, HMD Global, Micromax, NXP, Qualcomm to integrate with newest chipsets and offer advanced functionality on lite phones. Furthermore, KaiOS is already supported on high-performance LTE chipset platform Spreadtrum’s SC9820A which is now running on JioPhone.

Qualcomm raises its bid to acquire NXP

Qualcomm today announced that it has reached an agreement with NXP Semiconductors NV to raise its bid to $127.50 per share from $110 and has lowered minimum tender threshold to 70% of outstanding shares instead of the 80% it required under the earlier terms. NXP and Qualcomm team up to pre-validate mobile transit services in Snapdragon powered phones

NXP Semiconductors and Qualcomm have announced the integration of near field communication (NFC) and embedded secure element (eSE) solutions across Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 600, 400 and 200 processor platforms. The processors now includes pre-validation of mobile transaction services including transit and payment.
