Indian smartphone shipments up 14.5% YoY in 2018; Xiaomi continues to lead with 28.9% share: IDC

As per IDC’s Quarterly mobile phone tracker, the Indian smartphone market has shipped 142.3 million units in 2018, registering a healthy 14.5% year-on-year (YoY) growth as compared to 2017. Though the Q3 2018 has been the strongest quarter, the market saw a sequential decline of 15.1% in Q4 2018 owing to high channel inventory. OPPO patents Find Z, could feature 10X optical zoom, in-display fingerprint sensor

Global smartphone shipments down 4.9% in Q4 2018, Samsung leads with 70.4 million, Huawei posts 43.9% YoY growth

According to IDC, worldwide smartphone shipments reached a total of 375.4 million units during the Q4, down 4.9% YoY. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of decline. This downfall also marks the worst year ever for smartphone shipments with global smartphone volumes declining 4.1% in 2018 with a total of 1.4 billion units shipped. Huawei surpasses Apple to become second biggest smartphone vendor worldwide with 54.2 million shipments in Q2 2018: IDC

According to the research data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), smartphone vendors shipped a total of 342.0 million units in the Q2 2018, resulting in a 1.8% decline when compared to the 348.2 million units shipped in the second quarter of 2017. Samsung surpasses Xiaomi in India to regain number one position with 29% market share in Q2 2018: Counterpoint

Xiaomi really nailed it last quarter in India pushing Samsung behind to regain the number one position in the smartphone space. However, Samsung gave it back this time reclaiming the top position. Samsung and Xiaomi accounted for 9.9 million smartphone shipments in India in Q2 2018: Canalys

According to Canalys, Samsung, and Xiaomi each shipped a total of 9.9 million smartphones in the last quarter in India. Together, both the companies now account for a 60% market share which is up from 43% the same time last year.
