Inseego Corp and Verizon demonstrated Virtual Reality Telemedicine over 5G at Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit. Both the companies have conducted a live virtual reality telemedicine demonstration in partnership with Columbia University using an Inseego mobile hotspot device that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules with integrated RF transceiver, RF front-end, and antenna elements, running on Verizon’s 5G NR mobile network. Samsung, Qualcomm, and Verizon have announced a successful 5G New Radio (NR) data connection using 400MHz of bandwidth in the 28GHz spectrum, resulting in maximum throughput of more than 1.7 Gbps. Samsung has finally opened up Galaxy Note 9 One UI based on Android Pie beta after it by mistakenly opened registrations in the US last week. The beta testing is now rolling out in Germany and India. Qualcomm Technologies and Nokia have announced that they have successfully achieved over-the-air (OTA) 5G NR data calls in both the mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum bands. It is in compliant with the global 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 specification in NSA mode. The interoperability testing milestones were completed at Nokia’s 5G center of excellence in Oulu, Finland using commercially available Nokia AirScale base stations and a test device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules. With settlement between Apple and Qualcomm looking unlikely at this point, the trial for Qualcomm long legal war has been set to begin April 15 in San Diego federal court. U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel scheduled the trial at a hearing Friday. Though Qualcomm had sought to begin the trial in February, Curiel said the April date was needed to accommodate the court’s schedule. According to latest report, Uber is said to be in talks with Bird on a possible “multibillion-dollar” acquisition and, as a fallback, Uber has also been talking to smaller competitor Lime as well. Uber already owns a minority stake in Lime.
