The LG G Pad 8.3, announced a couple of months back as the company’s first small Android tablet, has now gotten itself a Google Play Edition in the US. This tablet is the first OEM device to get the Play Edition treatment, which will let consumers get the latest versions of Android faster than the original, which might or might not get the updates as fast as this one. That’s the main purpose and selling point of the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition. It will be free from any sort of OEM customizations, and is going on sale starting today, at a price of 350 USD. The tablet sports a great looking 1920×1200 8.3 inch screen and a metallic body to complement its huge phone-like looks. Great Online Shopping Festival, aka GOSF, by Google was an initiative by the Mountain View company to bring a “Cyber Monday” like deals bonanza to India last year, and it is back again this year, with more partners and of course, more deals. Unlike Black Friday, Cyber Monday and GOSF are online-only, and Google aims to attract the eager buyers of the legion of Indian internet shoppers, with deals on a single platform. That single platform is the website – GOSF.in, which lists all the partners and even has a countdown for the first day of the shopping festival, which begins on December 11th and ends on the 13th. 3 days, over 200 partners including all major e-tailers, and hopefully insane deals. Google Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi and LTE variants go on sale in India on Play Store

After a very long wait, Google has finally started selling the 2013 edition Nexus 7 tablets in India. The tablets have been priced rather competitively and start at just Rs. 20,999 for the 16GB variant. The 32GB WiFi only model will be available for Rs. 23,999 while stepping up to the LTE variant will bump up costs to Rs. 27,999. Google Nexus 5 coming soon to India, Play Store prices 16 GB version for Rs. 28,999

The just announced Google Nexus 5 has been spotted on the Indian Play Store, with it listed as “coming soon” to India along with the price tags of Rs. 28,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 32,999 for the 32 GB version. The Nexus 5 was just announced by LG and Google, but had leaked like a broken cauldron over the internet for the past few weeks and even months. The phone has a 5 inch full HD IPS screen with LG’s own in-cell touch technology and is powered by the blazing fast Snapdragon 800 processor, among many other hardware features. It also runs on the latest version of Android – 4.4 KitKat which has been spruced up with new user interface changes, a changed dialer, and a lot more under the hood for developers to take advantage of. Now that the phone has been announced, we think it might not take long to arrive in India as the listing has already shown up on the Indian Play Store.

The long rumored Google Nexus 5 is finally official and it brings with a brand new version of Android as well. Google has opted for top of the line specifications for the handset and we get to see a blazing fast 2.3Ghz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor onboard. There’s also 2GB of RAM. All that power will be pushing pixels to the edge to edge 4.95 inch 1080p display. The battery on the phone is a bit disappointing at 2,300 mAh however you’ll still be able to keep it juiced up wirelessly thanks to Qi support. Amazon now shipping Chromecast to India and other countries outside USA

BlackBerry in talks with Cisco, Google, Intel amongst others, faces class action suit

BlackBerry might have announced its proposed deal with Fairfax Financial but till the time the final papers are signed, the company is free to explore other options and it is doing just that. Reuters claims that BlackBerry is having discussions with Google, Intel, LG, Samsung and even the likes of Cisco and SAP who are interested in the company’s patent portfolio and servers. If rumors are to be believed, none of the companies are very interested in BlackBerry’s devices business. The deal is expected to be closed on November 4th with BlackBerry being sold to a consortium led by Fairfax Financial for $4.7 billion meanwhile the Canadian company is fishing for better offers.

Google Search for iOS gets push notifications for reminders

Google today announced a slew of improvements in its mobile search application to celebrate 15 years of Google Search. The improvements include an update to the iOS app that will bring reminder notifications amongst other features. Some of these features are already available on the Android app. The update will also help enable a seamless search experience across multiple devices and platforms. The search app will now sync across mobile devices and platforms and so a reminder set on one device will reflect on others as well. Users will need to be logged in to their Google account for this.

Nokia was testing Android on its Lumias before the Microsoft acquisition, could it have worked out?

This has been blowing up on the Internet for the past few hours. New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield initially had this scoop that Nokia was testing Android on its Lumia range of devices as a “Plan B” if Windows Phone completely fails to take off. Yes, Nokia was indeed testing Android on its Lumias and it is speculated that it might have been a possibility in light of growing tensions between the two companies, with Microsoft failing to deliver features at a pace Nokia wanted it to. It is believed that this would have played a role in pushing Microsoft to acquire Nokia, but not a huge one, as insiders say that Microsoft was aware of this early on in the partnership.

Did Google just accidentally leak the LG Nexus 5?

Having announced the Google KitKat partnership for the next version of Android, the company released a video showing a celebratory installation of the new mascot in GooglePlex. This video might have looked normal at first, but keen eyes spotted a weird new device with the Nexus branding on the back. Could this be the unannounced Google Nexus 5? Also, if the logo is inspected at close, it looks to be made by LG. Unless our eyes fool us, this might actually be the upcoming Nexus 5 phone from Google, made by LG.
