Google Glass goes on sale in the US to general public


Now, anyone living in the US can buy Google’s flagship wearable product, the Google Glass.  Google opened sales of Glass to the US public for one day in April, making it briefly available to people. The company also launched a try and buy program for potential Glass buyers. However, this time the Explorer Program is not limited for a specific period or to specific people such as developers.

We’re still in the Explorer Program while we continue to improve our hardware and software, but starting today anyone in the US can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand.

Google confirms in the post that the Explorer Edition is still a beta product and an official consumer retail launch is still due.Priced at $1500, Google Glass is Google’s not only most ambitious but also much awaited product.The consumer version is expected to go on sale to the general public towards the end of 2014. Google is also offering a free sunglass shade or one of its newly-introduced prescription glasses frames along with any purchase.

Meanwhile, Google’s effort to expand offerings on Glass continued as it announced in April Android KitKat 4.4 update along with iPhone SMS and Calendar feature last month. Also, as per reports that surfaced online suggested that Google Glass might get a dual lens in future.
