India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sent a letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to speed up the pricing of 5G spectrum, for which the auctions are expected to be held soon. The letter relays the wishes of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to have 5G networks deployed in India by August 15th, 2022.

ZTE’s nubia brand just announced the nubia Z40 Pro, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in China, as it had promised. It retains the 6.67-inch FHD+ 144Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen from the predecessor, but this has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with up to 16GB of RAM, triple rear cameras the includes a 64MP main camera with custom Sony IMX787 flagship sensor and offers 35mm equivalent portrait focal length. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, the global smartphone AP (Application Processor)/SoC (System on Chip) witnessed a growth of 5% YoY during 2021. 5G-capable SoCs accounted for half of total shipments, and the market was led by MediaTek, Qualcomm and Apple.
