Lenovo announces new Android based Yoga multimode tablets

Lenovo launched their new series of Yoga tablets with Ashton Kutcher who is now one of the Product Engineers of the company. The new Yoga tablet series follows up with the Yoga convertible laptop series and brings multimode experience to the tablet category. Lenovo Yoga allows the users to experience the tablet in three modes – hold, tilt and stand mode.

Xolo Q900 with 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core processor launched for Rs. 12999

Xolo has launched the Q900, the company’s latest smartphone in the Q CORE series. It appeared on the official website yesterday and packs a  4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display at 312 ppi and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6589 processor with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. It runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), similar to most of the recent smartphones from Xolo. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, LED flash and 1080p full HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The new app is still in testing stage, that brings a completely new design with new tabs for conversations, people and settings and new features. More than 250 million Smartphones shipped in Q3 2013, market posts a record 38.8% growth – IDC

We have been taking a look at the Smartphone market through the regular analyses from the folks at IDC, and the report for the 3rd quarter of 2013 is now out. The key takeaways from this quarter is that the overall smartphone market has grown at a record breaking pace, with 38.8% growth. The total Smartphone shipments are now at 258.4 million, higher than the earlier record last quarter, which was 237 million. The overall mobile phone market is now at a healthy 467.9 million shipments, with over 55% of the shipments being Smartphones. We saw smartphones surpass the feature phones this year, and the gap has widened even further. This is all attributed to the explosive growth in China, which contributes to more than 1/3rd of the total smartphone shipments.

Xolo is all set to launch two new smartphones, Xolo Q900 in the Q CORE series and the A600 in the A Series. These smartphones have appeared on the official website. The Q900 has a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display at 312 ppi similar to the Xolo Play, but this one is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6589 processor with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. The A600 has a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572W processor with Mali 400MP GPU. Both these phones run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and have dual SIM support with dual standby. BBM for Android and iPhone brings over 20 million new users in the first week

BlackBerry has announced that there are 20 million new users of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), a week after its roll out of Android and iPhone apps. Last week BlackBerry revealed they saw more than 10 million downloads after 24 hours they resumed the launch of BBM for Android and iPhone. Totally BBM has 80 million monthly active users, says BlackBerry. The app topped as free overall app in 35 countries on Google Play and in 107 countries in the Apple iTunes Store. Viber for Windows Phone 8 updated with redesigned UI and Viber desktop support

Viber is a well known app, popular mainly for its VOIP services and chat. The company has been having its own Windows Phone 8 app for a while but it lacked some much needed features. With the announcement of the new desktop app, the integration was curiously missing out on the Windows Phone platform with the 3.0 update, but finally, the app has been now updated with a nicely refreshed UI with custom backgrounds support and better integration with Viber desktop that lets you take calls and transfer them over to phone from the PC or vice versa. LG G Health Smartwatch trademark filing surfaces

LG has filed for G Health Smartwatch trademark to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Gear, its Korean competitor. Rumors of the LG Smartwatch surfaced back in March. Back in July Apple filed  filed the iWatch trademark in Japan, Russia & Mexico, but it is not clear when we can expect a watch from the company. LG filed the G Health trademark on October 23rd, 2013. Man who stole more than $12 million worth of LG G2 smartphones caught

Just a few days after we reported of the stolen LG G2 truck incident, the thief, or at least one of the thieves that managed to hijack a truck full of LG’s G2 smartphones, seems to have been caught today. It is believed that the truck was spotted in Louisville after the driver of the stolen truck foolishly crashed into an utility pole. This is akin to getting busted on a single star wanted level in GTA V.

Nokia Q3 2013 sales at Eur 5.66 billion, 8.8 million Lumias sold

Nokia just published its quarterly earnings report for Q3 2013 and has reported sales worth Eur 5.66 billion in the quarter ending September.
