Sony starts rolling out Android 4.4 update for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact

Sony has started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and the Z1 compact. It started rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the Z Ultra and the Z1 back in December last year, and the Z1 Compact was launched running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). The Sony Xperia Z2 that was unveiled last month runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. The KitKat update brings performance tweaks, lot of under the hood improvements, new skin and new features. It has a gorgeous 5.5-inch Quad HD display at a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a TOL (Touch On Lens) module. The ultra-sensitive touch lets you use the phone even when it’s wet or when wearing gloves. It has a solid build and a similar design that we had seen on the Oppo Find 5. Karbonn Titanium Octane, Octa Plus and Hexa launch

Karbonn today launched Titanium Octane and Titanium Octane Plus smartphones with MediaTek MT6592 Octa-core chips along with the Titanium Hexa. The Karbonn Titanium Octane has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display and the Octane Plus has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD IPS display. Both these smartphones run on the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. The Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus would compete with the recently launched Micromax Canvas Knight A350 that has similar features. Oppo announces Find 7a with 5.5inch Full HD display and Snapdragon 801 SoC

Oppo is holding an event today in China where they announced their latest flagship device – Oppo Find 7 and its slightly trimmed down counterpart – Oppo Find 7a. Oppo Find 7a comes with a 5.5inch Full HD display sporting a pixel density of 403ppi and has most other features similar to the Oppo Find 7 which comes with a 5.5inch Quad HD display sporting a pixel density of 538ppi.

Oppo has finally unveiled the Find 7, the company’s latest flagship smartphone at an event in China. It has a 5.5-inch (2560×1440 pixels) Quad HD 538ppi LTPS display from JDI with Corning gorilla glass protection and Touch-on-Lens technology, powered by a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Color OS 1.2 on top. It has a 13-megapixel camera Sony IMX214 stacked sensor with 6-element lens, f/2.0 aperture and uses software enhancements to capture images at 50-megapixel (8,160 x 6,120 pixels) resolution. The camera is also capable of shooting RAW images and has 4K video recording. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone has appeared on the official website and packs a  5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS (Low temperature polysilicon) type display, powered by 1.5 GHz hexa-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and packs a 2050 mAh battery. Detailed specifications of the phone such as RAM and memory are not available yet. Karbonn launched the Titanium X with a 5-inch 1080p display recently.

LG’s G Watch will be Google’s first “Nexus” Smartwatch, powered by Android Wear

Close on the heels of the announcements from Google for Android Wear and Motorola’s Moto 360 Smartwatch, LG has announced that it will actually be making the first smartwatch powered by the new wearables platform. The LG G watch, as it is called, will be the first smartwatch to release to the market, powered by Google’s Android Wear platform. LG and Google have apparently worked on this device together, right from design, just like a Nexus product. The details of the LG G watch have not been revealed yet, but the availability is set to the second quarter of 2014.

Amazon rumored to be shipping a video streaming device in April

Streaming devices are becoming a thing as Roku’s streaming stick and Google’s Chromecast have seen considerable success.
