Asus made a lot of announcements at Computex 2014 event that was held in Taipei and the refreshed Asus MeMO Pad 7 was among the them. Asus announced the upgraded MeMO Pad 7 after an year and in terms of specifications, there isn’t much change except for the fact that the MediaTek processor in the yesteryear model has been replaced by a powerful Intel Atom Z3745 SoC in the latest generation.
A new Android malware is affecting Android phone users in Ukraine by locking their mobile data. Called as Simplocker, the malware scans the device’s SD card or internal storage, encrypting any data files it finds there with a range of extensions, including obvious ones such as .jpg, .doc, .avi, and mp4. It then demands a ransom from them to recover their files.

Rovio has released a new update for Angry Birds Space that brings 40 new levels and several new features. This is the biggest update since the launch of the game 2 years back, says Rovio. This also adds new bonus levels, new vehicles such as Orion Crew Vehicle, OSIRIS-REx, Deep Impact and Dawn spacecraft, new Asteroids and Buzz Aldrin bird, named after the Apollo 11 moonwalker for ultimate destruction. At the Computex 2014 event in Taipei, Asus announced a lot of products and among those, is the upgraded Asus MeMO Pad 8. The new Asus MeMO Pad 8 is an upgrade over the yesterday product of the same name. The successor – New Asus MeMO Pad 8 is a very worthy upgrade over the original with a Full HD display, an Intel Atom Z3580 SoC with 2GB RAM, 16GB Internal storage and a microSD card slot. The new MeMO Pad 8 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
Nokia launched both the Lumia 630 and the Lumia 630 Dual SIM at an event last month. The Dual SIM variant of the smartphone went on sale few days after the launch. Now the single SIM variant is on sale through the official Nokia Shop in India. Other than the lack of additional SIM card slot, it has similar specifications including a 4.5-inch FWVGA ClearBlack IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and Windows Phone 8.1. Reports that surfaced online last month suggested that Google is working on tablets that boasts of advanced vision capabilities that can take precise 3D images of objects. Now, Google has made the tablets official by announcing a prototype for developers.
Barnes & Noble is teaming up with Samsung to launch a new line of tablets. The duo will roll out co-branded line of tablets that are dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. Equipped with Samsung’s hardware the tablets will be based on Samsung’s entry-level 7-inch Galaxy Tab 4. They will also boast of customized Nook software from Barnes & Noble. The Lumia 630 Dual SIM from Nokia is one of the first devices to be launched with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, and of course, with a Dual SIM setup. It is a direct successor to the Lumia 620, but takes a different route in terms of the pricing strategy, moving closer to the Lumia 520 rather than the 620. Priced at Rs. 11,500, the device comes with a 5 megapixel camera, but without a LED flash or a secondary microphone to support it. Nokia have clearly gone for price conscious sourcing here, but will the performance beat our expectations? Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (SM-T331) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-T531) that were unveiled back in April are now listed on official Samsung India eStore. Both these tablets have 8.0-inch and 10.1-inch WXGA displays with 16:10 screen ratio, powered by 1.2 quad-core processors and run on Android 4.4 (KitKat). These are the the 3G variants of the tablet that comes with voice calling capabilities. These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and feature leather-like finish on the back. Acer announced the higher mid-range Android smartphone – Acer Liquid Jade at the Computex 2014 event in Taipei. The phone comes bundled with Acer Liquid Leap fitness band in certain markets. The Acer Liquid Jade seems to be the exact combination of the mid-range smartphone being powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor and a 720p HD 5inch screen.
LinkedIn is following footsteps of Facebook and Twitter by giving its user profile a makeover. Now, premium account users on LinkedIn can add background images to their profile pages which is similar to Facebook’s and Twitter’s cover photo feature. Users can either upload their own image, or select from a gallery of header images provided by LinkedIn.

Sony announced the Sony Xperia Z2 at MWC 2014 earlier this year and it wasn’t much of an update when compared to the Sony Xperia Z1. The Sony Xperia Z2 comes with an almost similar body while the internals have been beefed up to match the latest generation SoC. Sony has decided to stick with the similar 20.7MP camera module on the Xperia Z2 that is currently found in the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z1 Compact.
