Flipkart receives $700 million in latest round of funding
Flipkart today announced that it has received US$ 700 million investment with new investors: Baillie Gifford, Greenoaks Capital, Steadview Capital, T. Rowe Price Associates and Qatar Investment Authority, along with existing investors: DST Global, GIC, ICONIQ Capital and Tiger Global, who also participated in this latest financing round. Spice and Google launched the Spice Dream UNO H (Mi-498H) earlier this week for Rs. 6,499. Vodafone offers free Wi-Fi in Delhi’s Khan Market area for its own and other users
Vodafone has announced that it has started offering free Wi-Fi connectivity in Delhi’s Khan Market area for both Vodafone and Non-Vodafone subscribers. This covers most frequented hotspots like ROUTE 04, SOY, Choko La, Big Chill, Pure Punjab, Chonas, Town Hall and Khan Chacha. Last year Airtel partnered with Google to launch Free Zone to access some Google Apps for free. I experienced a similar free WiFi service at Hyderabad Airport powered by Tata Docomo. Micromax has launched Canvas Tab P470, the company’s latest tablet with 3G connectivity and voice calling capabilities. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It has 21 pre-loaded languages, packs 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage with expansion slot and a 3200mAh battery that promises up to 11 hours of talk time. YU YUREKA Hands On
Micromax’s YU introduced the YUREKA smartphone at an event yesterday for Rs. 8,999. The first YU branded smartphone runs on CyanogenMod 11 based on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) and has 4G LTE, including support for LTE bands in India. Android 5.1 update reportedly coming in February 2015
Google plans to roll out Android 5.1 update by February of 2015, according to a report from AndroidPIT. Google started rolling out the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Nexus devices last month and recently rolled out a minor Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) update to fix some bug. According to the report, the Android 5.1 would bring new features such as update with Silent Mode, changes to the Material Design color palette, improved RAM management and more. Ola launches Auto service in Chennai
Ola, popular for its Ola Cabs has launched auto service in Chennai. It now lets you book autos straight from your smartphone using the same Ola app that you use to book cabs. The Ola auto service was first introduced in Bangalore in pilot basis last month. The service is also available in Pune.
