Sony has launched its new compact NW-A25HN Walkman with Hi-Res digital noise canceling feature in India. It was introduced at the IFA last September. It has a 2.2-inch (320×240 pixels) QVGA TFT color LCD display and control buttons. Opera has received a buyout offer of whopping $1.2 billion from Chinese consortium. Qihoo 360 (mobile security maker) and Beijing Kunlun Tech (mobile game developer) are the companies included in the consortium along with investment funds Golden Brick and Yonglian.

Microsoft has scooped up Groove music player iOS app for an undisclosed sum. The Groove app is developed by a Montreal-based startup, Zikera. As a result of the acquisition, Groove will no longer be available for download.

Vodafone has launched its 4G LTE services in Mumbai, as it had promised last week, after launching it in n Kerala, Mysore, Kolkata and Delhi & NCR. Vodafone said that it will be rolled out in key business & residential corridors of Mumbai across Western suburbs & South Mumbai in a phased manner, and the roll-out will be completed across all parts of Mumbai including Eastern suburbs & New Mumbai license areas by the end of March 2016.
