Worldwide 2-in-1 detachable market grows 10.3%, tablet market continues to decline in Q4 2017: IDC

According to IDC’s preliminary data, the Worldwide 2-in-1 detachable tablet market grows 10.3% with 6.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017. The regular tablets were shipped around 43.1 million units during the fourth quarter with 141.7 million the entire year which is a decline of 7.6% from the previous year. HTC U11+ with 6-inch QHD+ display, Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM launched in India for Rs. 56990

HTC today launched the  U11+, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in the ‘U series’ in India. It was announced  back in November last year and comes with a 6-inch Quad HD+ 18:9 Full Screen display with 82% screen-to-body ratio and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 coupled with 6GB of RAM. Like the original U11, it comes with Edge Sense technology.

Infinix has launched Hot S3, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the ‘Hot S’ series in India. It has a 20-megapixel front camera with dual LED flash and features a 5.65-inch HD+ 18:9 display, which are the main highlights of the phone. It is powered by Snapdragon 430 with up to 4GB RAM, runs Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s own XOS Hummingbird V3.0 on top. Broadcom yet again bids to acquire Qualcomm at higher price

Broadcom back in November has proposed an offer to acquire Qualcomm, and the chipset maker rejected the offer saying that the proposal dramatically undervalues Qualcomm and comes with significant regulatory uncertainty. However, Broadcom today has yet again proposed an updated offer at a higher $121 billion and the all outstanding shares of Qualcomm for $60.00 per share in cash and $22.00 per share in Broadcom stock. Xiaomi Amazfit BIP smartwatch with 45 days battery life, GPS, multi-sport tracking goes global, priced at $99

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Huami introduced its Amazfit BIP smartwatch in China back in August last year. Now the company has launched the smartwatch in the U.S. It has a 1.28-inch always-on color touch display and promises over 30 days of battery life with normal use or up to 45 days with minimal notifications on a single charge. It has GPS, barometer, heart rate sensor and 3-axis accelerometer for activity, sports and sleep tracking. 2018 iPhones to use Intel modems exclusively, ditching Qualcomm: KGI

Rumors about the 2018 iPhone models keep growing head of the official announcement later this year, thanks to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. Back in November last year he said that the 2018 iPhone models will come with a faster Intel XMM 7560 modem and Qualcomm SDX 20 LTE Cat. 18 Modem with support for 4×4 MIMO technology.  He has also said that 70%-80% of the modem chips for 2018 iPhone models will come from Intel and the remaining will use Qualcomm modems.
