Andy Rubin, creator of Android and CEO of Essential just tweeted out a colorful glimpse into one of the most radically re-imagined compact smartphones we have ever seen. It’s long, it’s thin, there’s a huge camera at the back and also a fingerprint scanner. The guys at Essential call this device “GEM” and the first tweet from Andy (after almost an year) shows how color-shifty the design is. But it didn’t stop there.

Update: After testing it recently, Instagram has started rolling out Dark mode feature in the stable release for both Android and iOS. The company says it will automatically work on iOS 13 and Android 10 once you turn dark mode on your phone. However, if your Android phone supports dark mode (Samsung’s One UI, Xiaomi’s MIUI and others), this will trigger Instagram’s dark mode.

Google announced the Digital Wellbeing feature last year aimed at being responsible with smartphone usage. Digital Wellbeing helps users understand their smartphone usage better, app usage timers help users limit the usage, visuals detailing how many times the phone was unlocked each day and how many notifications were received. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was amongst best-selling devices last year, Xiaomi launched it running on Android Nougat, and was updated to Android 8.1 (Oreo) in June 2018. The company rolled out Android 9.0 (Pie) update to the smartphone back in May this year, the device is almost 18 months old and has already received two Android updates.
