HUAWEI Watch GT 2 with circular AMOLED display, Kirin A1 chip, Bluetooth 5.1, LiteOS announced


HUAWEI just announced the Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 smartphone and alongside the smartphones, HUAWEI also announced the Watch GT2, the successor to HUAWEI Watch GT. The leaks and renders of HUAWEI Watch GT 2 surfaced earlier revealing the design and some of its features. It features a circular AMOLED display, 14 days battery life and more.

HUAWEI Watch GT 2 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes and the 42mm version sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels and the 46mm version sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. It is powered by HUAWEI’s Kirin A1 wearable chip and sports a minimalistic aesthetic design with a 3D curved bezel-less watch face.

The connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1, BLE / BR / EDR, GPS, and comes with a wide range of sensors including Accelerometer sensor, Gyroscope sensor, Geomagnetic sensor, Optical heart rate sensor, Ambient light sensor, Air pressure sensor, and Capacitive sensor. There is a power button and a function button on this watch. It runs on HUAWEI’s homegrown LiteOS, not Google’s Wear OS platform. There is a 455mAh battery that promises to deliver 14 days of battery life on the 46mm version and 7 days of battery life on the 42mm version. It has 5ATM rating means its water-resistant at a depth of 50 meters.

It also now features a microphone and a speaker with support for Bluetooth calling meaning you can make calls or receive calls from the watch. Other features of the Watch GT 2 include heart rate tracking with TruSeen 3.5, sleep monitoring, HUAWEI TruRelax, and all-day activity tracking. There are 15 workout modes including running, hiking, walking, cycling, and swimming, and more.

There are different editions of the Watch GT 2 including Sport Edition, Classic Edition, and Elite Edition in 46mm case size and Sport Edition, Classic Edition, and Elegant Edition in 42mm case size.

Pricing and Availability

HUAWEI GT 2 46mm is priced at €249 ( US$ 275 / Rs. 19,620 approx.) and the 42mm variant is priced at €229 ( US$ 253 / Rs. 18,051 approx.) and they will begin shipping in October 2019.
