Apple settles yet another iPhone “Batterygate” lawsuit with $113 million fine

It has been nearly 3 years since news broke out of people noticing slowdowns in older iPhones after they updated the software. Since then, it has been a story of various lawsuits and litigations after Apple acknowledged that they were indeed slowing down performance over battery concerns. Now, Apple has settled another investigation over this issue, paying a fine of $113 million.

Micromax IN Note 1 Unboxing and First Impressions

Last month, Micromax unveiled its new sub-brand ‘in’ and announced its comeback in the smartphone segment. The launch invite with the tag line ‘Aao Karein Cheeni Kum’ (let’s cut down on sugar, but the wordplay on ‘Cheeni’ word also refers to the Chinese) hinted at the anti-China sentiment and following that early this month, the company unveiled two new smartphones – Micromax IN Note 1 and Micromax IN 1b priced starting at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 6999 respectively. Google completes global rollout of RCS messaging; end-to-end encryption coming soon

Google has slowly been rolling out their new chat features in Messages that is based on the open Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard over the past year now. They have finally finished the rollout globally and also has begun beta testing new features in the app such as end-to-end encryption.

Samsung adds Google Assistant support for 2020 Smart TV lineup

Samsung has announced that their 2020 lineup of Smart TVs will now support the Google Assistant, giving users quick access to smart home controls, web searches, and apps via voice. The Assistant will be joining the existing suite of voice assistants supported in Samsung Smart TVs, which include Amazon’s Alexa and Samsung’s own Bixby.

Google finally brings Gmail, Drive and Fit iOS and iPad OS widgets; Calendar and Chrome widgets coming soon

With the launch of iOS 14 and iPad OS 14, Apple added support for a feature that existed previously in Android for many years — Widgets in the home screen. While many apps had widgets ready on the day of release, Google only had widgets made for Google Photos and YouTube Music. That is finally changing as Google has now released widgets for Gmail, Drive and Fit.

Redmi Note 9 series 5G smartphones to be announced on November 26

Even though Xiaomi has already released the Redmi Note 9 series of smartphones in India and several other countries, the company today confirmed that it will launch new Note 9 series of smartphones in China on November 26th. Samsung rumoured to be working on Galaxy Z Flip Lite with UTG

Samsung has released 3 foldable devices till date (4 if you count the two versions of the original Galaxy Fold) and it certainly does not like they are giving up on this  form factor anytime soon. All three smartphones were definitely on the ultra-luxury budget segment, with the latest Galaxy Z Fold 2 priced at a whopping Rs. 1,49,999 in India. However, this may change soon as Samsung is reportedly working on a Galaxy Z Flip Lite that should be much cheaper.

OnePlus Nord N100 confirmed to feature 90Hz refresh rate display

OnePlus announced the Nord N100 smartphone along with the N10 5G last month for UK, Europe and US markets. At the launch the company said that the Nord N100 has a 6.52-inch HD+ 60Hz screen, now the retail unit reveals that the phone actually has a 90Hz refresh rate screen. WhatsApp working on advanced wallpaper options, Read Later and more

WhatsApp has recently begun testing new features in their Beta channel for both iOS and Android. These include new advanced chat wallpaper options, a new screen called Read Later which is meant to replace Archived Chats, and the ability to mute videos before sending them.
