CyanogenMod Inc. rolls out CM Home, a Google Now rival

Google Now is one hell of a useful tool if you’re as dependent on your smartphone as me. The context sensitive service provides you with relevant information on the go, be it traffic info, weather, or even sport. It does this by grabbing data from your profile that Google stores bit by bit (you’d be surprised to know what all Google knows about you).

KitKat MR2.2 (Android 4.4.4_r2) for Nexus 5 now seeding in India, Australia and New Zealand

Spearhead of the Google Nexus lineup of affordable smartphones, the Nexus 5 is now receiving an OTA update to Android v4.4.4_r2. As you’d have guessed from the name, there’s nothing major here.

nexus 5

However, unlike most OTA updates that the Nexus 5 received, this ones limited only to India, Australia and New Zealand, as Android Police reports. It is believed that the update addresses some network issues by installing a completely new radio image.

The update comes with the official build number KTU84Q, and name kitkat-mr2.2-release. Although the image can be downloaded by users in regions other than those mentioned above, the update page clearly says ‘For 2Degrees/NZ, Telsta/AUS and India ONLY’, which means you probably shouldn’t tinker around much if you aren’t based in those countries.

Since there’s no real functionality that you’re going to gain by flashing the update, we recommend not doing so if you aren’t in the list of countries mentioned above.

Cube, Pipo, Ramos… these are 3 of the most popular names in the Chinese tablet industry, ones that have managed to find a place on the world map thanks to the often very high VFM aspect that their devices bring along. If Chinese tablets aren’t your thing, its time for you to start celebrating, for budget tablets powered by the Windows OS are all set to go on sale later this year.

Microsoft_Surface_RT

Microsoft had previously announced their relaxed policy for Windows licenses, which meant that any manufacturer wanting to produce devices with screens lesser in size than 9 inches could obtain a license free of cost. We believe that Microsoft’s latest announcement regarding $99 Windows tablets revolves around the same idea. Continue reading “Thought only China could do it? $99 Windows tablets coming this year”
