Microsoft unveiled the much awaited Microsoft Office suite for iPad with 3 separate apps for Word , Excel and Powerpoint. The apps just went live on the US iTunes App Store at 11AM Pacific time and 2PM Eastern time. The apps are free to download and viewing office documents is free. However to edit the documents, an Office 365 subscription is required.

HTC unveiled the HTC One (M8), the latest flagship smartphone earlier today. We manged to get hold of the smartphone at the launch event and range some synthetic benchmark test. The HTC One (M8) is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS with HTC Sense 6 on top. The Sony Xperia Z2 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 also have a Snapdragon 801 SoC. Taiwanese phone maker HTC is holding an event in New York City and London today to announce the much expected successor to the HTC One. Gionee, one of the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturers launched the Elife E7 in India at the end of last year. It went on sale across India recently. The company’s latest flagship smartphone in the Elife series features a 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It starts at Rs. 26,999, bit higher than their predecessor, the Gionee Elife E6, but it is cheaper when compared to other smartphones in similar range. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo at the Mobile World congress in Barcelona earlier this week. We managed to do a hands-on comparison between the two. Even though the Gear 2 has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display, this offers vibrant colors. This one is powered by Tizen OS, so the navigation is much faster than the Android-powered Galaxy Gear. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 Neo along with the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014. The Gear 2 Neo is a cheaper version of the Gear 2 with plastic build and also lacks the camera. It has a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Tizen OS. It is 10.0 mm thick, similar to the Gear 2, but weighs 55 grams, about 13 grams lighter than the Gear 2. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014 earlier this week. It is the successor of the first Galaxy Gear, that was introduced at the IFA 2013. Unlike the first Android-based Galaxy Gear, this one runs on Tizen OS, optimized for wearable devices, hence it is much faster in terms of navigation. The Gear 2 has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display that we had seen on the Gear, but the processor has been improved. Samsung introduced the Gear Fit, the company’s first wearable fitness band earlier this week at the MWC 2014. We got to check out the device at the event. Unlike the Gear watch series with a square screen, this has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display. The display is bright and the navigation is a smooth. Just like the Gear watch, this one has a Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors. You can remove the Gear Fit unit easily to change the strap. Check out the hands-on video below. The first YotaPhone with dual display was announced in MWC 2013 and they went on sale in December. Fast forward a year and they are here at MWC 2014 announcing the second generation YotaPhone. Unlike the original YotaPhone, the second generation YotaPhone is packed with top of the shelf specifications and has everything in it to compete with the top end smartphones.

Nokia has just announced the Nokia 220, the company’s latest affordable phone that starts at just 29 Euros or around Rs. 2,500. It also comes in a dual SIM variant, the Nokia 220 Dual SIM. It has a 2.4-inch (320 x 240 pixel) LCD screen and also has a T9 keypad. It has a 2-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera and 2G support. It has Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, FM Radio, Flashlight and a 1100 mAh battery.
