Asus made a lot of announcements at Computex 2014 event that was held in Taipei and the refreshed Asus MeMO Pad 7 was among the them. Asus announced the upgraded MeMO Pad 7 after an year and in terms of specifications, there isn’t much change except for the fact that the MediaTek processor in the yesteryear model has been replaced by a powerful Intel Atom Z3745 SoC in the latest generation.
At the Computex 2014 event in Taipei, Asus announced a lot of products and among those, is the upgraded Asus MeMO Pad 8. The new Asus MeMO Pad 8 is an upgrade over the yesterday product of the same name. The successor – New Asus MeMO Pad 8 is a very worthy upgrade over the original with a Full HD display, an Intel Atom Z3580 SoC with 2GB RAM, 16GB Internal storage and a microSD card slot. The new MeMO Pad 8 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Acer announced the higher mid-range Android smartphone – Acer Liquid Jade at the Computex 2014 event in Taipei. The phone comes bundled with Acer Liquid Leap fitness band in certain markets. The Acer Liquid Jade seems to be the exact combination of the mid-range smartphone being powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor and a 720p HD 5inch screen.
At the Computex 2014 event in Taipei, Asus announced a five in one convertible that tries to bring together a Windows tablet, a Windows Laptop, an Android laptop, an Android tablet and an Android smartphone into a single device. We have seen Windows convertibles, Android convertibles and Windows/Android dual boot Transformers until now, but by bringing the concept of a Padfone into the Windows/Android dual boot system, Asus is a taking a completely new direction.

Acer unveiled the Liquid X1 last week, ahead of this week’s Computex 2014 in Taipei. We got to check out the smartphone. It is powered by a octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and also has 4G LTE connectivity. It feature a large 5.7-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with custom UI on top, similar to most other smartphones that were launched at the event. Check out the hands on below.

Ford has demoed their experimental vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications technology for the first time in the Asia Pacific region at the Computex 2014 in Taipei. This WiFi-based technology enables cars to transmit data to other similarly equipped cars, including vehicle speed, location and predicted path to warn drivers of potential collision risks and other dangerous situations they may not be able to see yet. Acer unveiled the Liquid Z200, an entry-level smartphone last week ahead of Computex 2014. We got to check out the device that was on display on the show floor. The 4-inch WVGA display has limited viewing angles but the build quality is pretty good. The phone is powered by a dual-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1 GHz and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box, which is pretty good for an entry-level phone. Check out the hands-on below. Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and eventually arrived in Indian shores earlier this week. With a sky high price of Rs. 51,500, we set out to find if the device is really worth the price. While we will let you know the conclusion in our full review of the phone, in the process, we took the really intriguing 16 MP camera for a spin. We had purchased the international variant in the US and tested the camera in and around San Francisco to see how it fared in different lighting conditions. At an event in San Francisco today, Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella announced the availability of Microsoft Office for the iPad. The company has released 3 new iPad apps for Word , Excel and PowerPoint . The news is not a big surprise considering this is a much expected move but instant availability on the App Store is a great piece of news of Office users especially those with a Office 365 subscription. The apps are free for download and event viewing office documents is free. But editing the documents requires an active Office 365 subscription. This is clearly Microsoft’s attempt at getting more users to sign up for their cloud based Office offering.
