Chinese search engine giant Baidu enters into the Mobile OS market with its Yi OS that is based on Android. It was announced at Baidu World event in Beijing and it includes several Baidu apps such as Ting, their social music service, Shen Bian app similar to Google places, maps and a book-reading app. The core features such as integrated voice search would remain the same. Vodafone has launched their Facebook phone, Vodafone Blue in India. This phone is developed in collaboration with Facebook that has the qualities of a smartphone and social networking functions. The phone was announced in UK this July. This phone has dedicated F button that lets the user upload pictures, visit profiles and update status at a single click. MTS brings the world’s first CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase II network to India. Compared to EV-DO Rev.B Phase I, the Phase II technology offers high speed rate as high as 4.9 Mbps in single frequency carrier and 9.8 Mbps in two frequency carrier bundle. They have also launched MBlaze Ultra dongle that provides data download speeds of 9.8 Mbps. ZTE won the commercial contract from MTS earlier this May.
