Lava has launched Iris Atom 2 and Flair P1i new budget smartphones in the Iris and the Flair series. The Atom 2 has a 4.5-inch FWVGA screen and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The Flair P1i has a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1GHz processor. Both these smartphones run on Android 4.4 (KitKat), come with dual SIM support and have 3G connectivity. LG has introduced new Tone Ultra (HBS-810), successor of last year’s Tone Ultra (HBS-800). Asus launched its new smartphones in the Zenfone series, the Zenfone 2 Deluxe, Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 and the Zenfone Selfie at the ZenFestival in India earlier this month. Asus already announced that these smartphones will be available exclusively on Flipkart and also thorough ASUS Exclusive stores and authorized retailers starting from this month. iberry’s Auxus has launched Auxus PRIME P8000 in partnership with Chinese smartphone maker Elephone exclusively on Snapdeal, as it announced yesterday. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It supports Elephone ROMs and customized ROMs. It has 4G LTE connectivity with support for 4G LTE bands (TDD B40 2300MHz and FDD B3 1800MHz) for India.

Uber started testing cash payment option in Hyderabad in May this year and expanded it to Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kochi and Pune in India last month. Now it has started accepting cash payments in Chennai for uberGO and uberX rides. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked last week. Now the Galaxy Note5 Duos (SM-G9198) has been revealed by ePrice in Taiwan (Via). It shows two nano SIM card slots, but these are not hybrid SIM card slots like the Galaxy A series, so you can’t use the secondary SIM slot as a microSD expansion slot. This confirms earlier rumors and puts an end to rumors that said that dual SIM variant will have a microSD card slot. OnePlus released a minor Oxygen OS 1.0.2 update to fix Stagefright security exploit last week. But this doesn’t fix the latest vulnerability in the Stagefright library (CVE-2015-3864) that was reported last week. As you can see from the screenshot, this is confirmed by the Zimperium’s Stagefright Detector App that got updated to add detection of the latest vulnerability. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 that was announced last week went on sale in China yesterday. Xiaomi has announced that it sold 800,000 Redmi Note 2 smartphones in the first 12 hours of sale, which is a new record for the company. Back in April Xiaomi entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 2.11 million smartphones online in 24 hours during its Mi Fan Fest in China. Chinese smartphone maker Meizu entered India with the launch of m1 note smartphone back in May. It launched the m2 note, its successor at a competitive price tag of Rs. 9999 in the country earlier this month. Today the Chinese company headquartered in Zhuhai, China has announced an event for its official ‘Brand Launch’ in India on August 26th. The invite doesn’t hint at anything, but the company is expected to launch the MX5 and even its latest m2 smartphone at the event next week. This year the company has introduced (Via) G9198, an upgraded version with dual 3.9-inch (768 x 1280 pixels) WXGA Super AMOLED screens, one on the front and the the other on the inside along with a T9 keypad. It is powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808, has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
