Airtel has launched their 4G LTE services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in Punjab and Haryana, followed by Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune. All the 4G plans remain the same, but Airtel has added a new plan called Break free Supreme that would offer 50GB of free data at Rs. 4,799. These plans are available for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers in Punjab. There are also introductory cash back offers along with the new Break free Supreme plan for post-paid customers. Delhi High Court has temporarily stalled the execution of the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) order asking Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in 3 days, where they did not acquire the license, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Bharti Airtel challenged the DoT’s order in the Delhi Hight Court last week, and the court ordered them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for violating licence norms. The Department of Telecom (DoT) may ask Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in India, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT had already sent a notice to Airtel to stop their 3G services in these 7 circles including, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (East), Kolkata, Gujarat, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh. Coming from an Economic Times article, it looks like Reliance Industries limited (RIL) is all set to get approval from the telecom department (DoT) for testing voice services on its yet-to-be-launched 4G networks. This comes as a surprise as Airtel has been the only 4G player as of now, with limited network distribution.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the 2G auctions in various circles that ended after 14 rounds. Earlier this year, Supreme Court of India cancelled 122 2G licenses issued by the Government on after 10th Jan 2008. At the end of the 2G auction government got bids worth Rs. 9,407.64 crore, much lower than their target revenue of Rs. 40,000 crore. Earlier this fall, Motorola announced two very interesting smartphones called the RAZR M and the RAZR i. From the outside they look exactly the same, but on the inside the M model sports a dual core Qualcomm chip, whereas the i model uses an Intel Atom. Silicon aside, what makes these phones so intriguing is their displays. At 4.3 inches and a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, they’re not the most advanced panels on the planet, but they have almost no border. What advantages does that bring? The RAZR M, despite having a 4.3 inch display, is practically the same size as Apple’s new 4 inch iPhone 5. They also demoed AllJoyn technology that enables ad hoc, proximity-based device-to-device communication for local Multi-player gaming and apps.
