Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio), Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and infrastructure company Adani Group were the four participants in the 5G auction in India. Airtel 5G deployment to begin this August

Nokia today signed a partnership with top telecom operator Bharti Airtel for the implementation of 5G radio access networks (RAN). This multi-year agreement comes on the heels of the recently concluded 5G spectrum auctions and the allocation of pan-India spectrum to Bharti Airtel, demonstrating the company’s commitment to ushering India into the 5G era. India 5G auction: Jio acquires spectrum worth Rs. 88,078 crore, Rs. 43,084 crore for Airtel, Vi spends Rs. 18,784 crore

5G spectrum auction ended today after 40 rounds, and the government received bids worth Rs. 1,50,173 crore for 71% of total 5G spectrum bid. A total of 72097.85 MHz of spectrum in various Low (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), Mid (3300 MHz) and High (26 GHz) frequency bands with a validity period of 20 years was put to auction. India 5G spectrum auction ends as it raises over 1.5 lakh crore for the government

After the end of the India’s first 5G spectrum auction that extended into seven days and 40 rounds, government got bids worth Rs. 1,50,173 core, according to a PTI report. The final amount is being tallied. This substantially exceeded pre-bid estimates of Rs. 85,000 crore. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Vodafone Idea, and Adani Enterprises Ltd took part in the auction. Vi achieves 5.92 Gbps download speed during mmWave 5G trials

TRAI has been testing 5G readiness in different parts of the country with small cells and aerial fibre. As part of these trials by TRAI, Vodafone Idea (Vi) successfully tested the use of street furniture for small cells and aerial fibre deployment in Bhopal Smart City with a 5G download speed of 1Gbps on mobile handsets at four locations in Bhopal: New Market, Jyoti Square, Prabhat Petrol Pump, and Inter State Bus Terminus. Bluetooth LE Audio specifications complete

Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), the trade association that oversees Bluetooth technology, announced today the completion of the specification defining LE Audio, the next generation of Bluetooth audio. This new standard was announced in 2020, and it has just been completed. Bluetooth LE Audio enhances wireless audio performance, adds hearing aid support, and debuts Auracast broadcast audio, a new Bluetooth capability. It is also included in Android 13. Govt launches PLI for design-led manufacturing of telecom equipments to develop 5G ecosystem in India

Department of Telecommunications(DoT) announced Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme on 24th February 2021, with a financial outlay of Rs, 12,195 Crores. A total of 31 companies, comprising 16 MSMEs and 15 Non-MSMEs including 8 Domestic and 7 Global companies were given approval on 14th October 2021. Reliance Jio launches 4G mobile services near Pangong Lake in Ladakh

Reliance Jio has officially launched 4G mobile services in Spangmik village near Pangong Lake in Ladakh and the company claims it is the first to provide 4G mobile connectivity in the area. Mobile Connectivity in the Ladakh and Leh regions is limited due to the geography, extreme weather, and government restrictions due to proximity to the international border.

India’s 5G rollout is already behind schedule due to delay in the spectrum auction, and it now appears that the auction will be delayed even further, resulting in even more delays in 5G rollout. India’s 5G roll out could be delayed due to local gear testing from July

The wait for a 5G network in India may become a little longer as network gear supply in the country may be disrupted in the weeks ahead. This is because, beginning July 1, 2022, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) intends to evaluate all foreign-made network gear for safety procedures at local research facilities under the Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) regulations.
