NETGEAR, the company known for its routers and range of networking devices, today, announced the launch of two of its tri-band Wi-Fi 6 routers namely Nighthawk AX4 and Nighthawk AX8 in India.

At the China Mobile Global Partner Conference in Guangzhou, MediaTek introduced the first 5G baseband chipset, Helio M70. Today, Mediatek has confirmed that the 5G chipset will be arriving in India by this year-end with the shipping happening next year.

OnePlus has showcased its first Prototype Smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 at the MWC, as it had promised. OnePlus said that it has been using the latest Snapdragon 8 series Mobile Platforms since the release of the OnePlus One. The Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform combined with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem and Qualcomm RF Front-End solutions to power the phone.

Other than its 10x optical zoom camera tech, OPPO also unveiled its first 5G smartphone at its ‘Get Closer’ MWC event in Barcelona. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with Snapdragon X50 5G modem. OPPO did not share the model number of the phone or when it will launch, but the device shown looked similar to the Find X without a notch. The company even unveiled its 5G-ready prototype based on the Find X, a developer version with integrated communication capabilities in December.

At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit 2018 OnePlus announced that its next flagship will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and the company will release a commercial 5G smartphone with carrier network EE in the UK in 2019. Earlier this week it announced that it will showcase its first 5G prototype smartphone at MWC 2019 next week. Today the company has announced a partnership with leading Finnish telecommunications network carrier Elisa to launch a 5G device during the second quarter this year, making it among the first 5G devices in the Finnish market.

At the third-annual Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm introduced the first commercial 5G mobile platform, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform that will enable commercial 5G networks and mobile devices in Early 2019. Snapdragon 855 mobile platform will be combined with Snapdragon X50 5G modem family and Qualcomm QTM052 mmWave antenna modules with integrated RF transceiver, RF front-end and antenna elements, helping OEMs address the exponential increase in device design complexity that comes with 5G in both sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands.

Qualcomm Technologies and Nokia have announced that they have successfully achieved over-the-air (OTA) 5G NR data calls in both the mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum bands. It is in compliant with the global 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 specification in NSA mode. The interoperability testing milestones were completed at Nokia’s 5G center of excellence in Oulu, Finland using commercially available Nokia AirScale base stations and a test device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and antenna modules. EE; UK’s mobile network that is part of BT Group has announced that it is switching on 5G sites in 16 UK cities in 2019. The first launch cities will be London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham, and Manchester. EE is building 5G in the busiest parts of the six launch cites including Hyde Park in London, Manchester Arena, Belfast City Airport, the Welsh Assembly, Edinburgh Waverly train station and Birmingham’s Bullring.
