Twitter’s Periscope for Android has received its third update (v1.0.3) that adds option to view someone’s profile for live and recent broadcasts from the past 24 hours and also lets you share them to Twitter easily. Previously, clicking a profile just showed option to follow or unfollow a person and their follower/following count. This is already available for iPhone. This update also brings in-app notifications for live broadcasts for users running on Android Lollipop. BBC News app for Android and iOS gets new design and features

BBC has updated its News app for Android and iOS platforms with a new design. The app also brings new My News section that lets you follow topics from within an article, mobile-first video designed specifically for digital platforms, live BBC World Service radio, most-read and most-watched sections, onward journeys to related articles and video, photo galleries and full-screen images and more. Google Maps now lets you send directions from desktop to Android

Google Maps for iOS got updated to version 4.7 last month that brought option to send direction from Google Maps desktop to iOS devices. Google Maps for Android now has this feature in the latest update (v9.11.0), as noted by Android Police. Meerkat updated with new cameo feature for viewers

Meerkat 1.5 for iPhone

Meerkat for iOS has been updated to version 1.5 that adds new cameo mode that lets your viewers to take over your stream for 60 seconds. You can tap a viewer’s profile or comment “Cameo @username” to invite someone for a cameo. Both can end the cameo at any time. This update also makes use of Facebook API so that you can connect your Facebook account to Meerkat to receive alerts when one of your friends or pages you follow join.

It is available exclusively in India, and the company plans to launch it globally in the near future.
