LG Optimus Vu II with 5-inch IPS display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM announced

LG has announced the Optimus Vu II, successor of the Optimus Vu. The specs are similar to the one that surfaced earlier this week. It has a 5-inch (1,024 x 768 pixels) IPS display similar to the Vu with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. It has a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 8 Megapixel auto focus camera with BSI sensor, LED Flash and an 1.3MP front-facing camera. MediaTek to make quad-core chips starting Q4 2012

MediaTek, the company behind those ultra cheap single and dual core system on chips launched recently, is prepping for another round of competition. Yes, they are now in the quad-core game, well, at least they will be, when they start making those sweet quad-core chips starting Q4 2012, according to reports from China Times.

Samsung Galaxy S III TouchWiz remote wipe hack patched with OTA update

There was mighty uproar yesterday about a dirty USSD hack that enabled links with a simple USSD code wipe the entire phone back to factory reset. It was widely reported to have affected all the major Samsung devices that were running the company’s custom skin called TouchWiz. But the good news is, the exploit has been immediately patched by Samsung, with an OTA update for its recently released, and massively successful Galaxy S3. Sony Xperia tipo and tipo dual officially launched in India for Rs. 9999 and Rs. 10499


Sony has officially launched the tipo and the tipo dual in India. Both these phones were announced in June and went on sale in India earlier this month. These phones havea  3.2-inch (480 x 320 pixels) 262k color TFT display and is powered by 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. These devices would come with 500 MB of free 3G data per month for three months for Vodafone subscribers, which is valid till 31st December 2012. Barnes and Noble takes on the Amazon Kindle Fire with Nook HD and Nook HD+

Barnes and Nobles was recently in the lime light for making a partnership deal with Microsoft with respect to the “Nook” category of devices the book giant produces. We were wary of what the outcome might be, but in an obvious move, they are trying to battle their competitors again, with the announcement of the new Nooks, name the Nook HD and the Nook HD+. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launched in Korea


Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 2 in their home ground, Korea.  Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note II at IFA last month and this is their first international launch since the announcement. It packs in a 5.5-inch (1,280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to hit Online Store on September 27 in India

Samsung is gearing up to launch the upgraded version of the immensely popular Galaxy Note – Galaxy Note 2 in India later this week.  Samsung had opened pre-bookings for the device and consumers could reserve a Galaxy Note 2 by paying Rs.5000 as an advance.In an email to customers who had pre-booked the phone on the company’s eStore , it is mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be launched on the 27th on the eStore.The Note 2 has some interesting specs including a 5.5 inch display and a 3100 mAh battery and a Quad-core CPU.

LG Optimus Vu 2 specs surface, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM

LG is yet to launch the Optimus Vu globally, but the specs for the Optimus Vu 2 has surfaced on a Korean blog Bad IT Tong. The LG Optimus Vu 2 would retain the same 5-inch (1,024 x 768 pixels) IPS display with 4:3 Aspect Ratio but it would have a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor instead of a Snapdragon Scorpion processor. It would have 2GB of RAM instead of the 1GB RAM in the Vu and would come with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Google has not submitted a new Google Maps App to Apple


Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that Google has not offered a new Google Maps app to Apple, according to a report from the Reuters. The new iOS 6 update that started rolling out for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch last week uses Apple’s own maps instead of Google Maps from the pervious versions of iOS.
