Lava has launched Iris X1 Mini and Iris X1 Grand, the company’s latest budget smartphones in the Iris X1 Series. It Iris X1 mini has a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the Iris X1 Grand has a 5-inch FWVGA IPS screen and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. Both the smartphones run on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). It promises Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Iris X1 Grand. Both these smartphones have the same design of last year’s Iris X1. Spice Group to invest Rs. 500 crores to set up mobile manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh

Spice Group today announced an investment of Rs 500 crores to set up a mobile manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh for setting up the manufacturing unit in the state. Under the MoU, the Government of UP will support Spice Group in establishing the facility in the state of Uttar Pradesh in a time bound manner and facilitate the necessary infrastructure, ecosystem and incentives under various schemes announced by the State and Central Government. Lava Iris 470, the company’s new smartphone in the Iris series is now available from Indiatimes Shopping and eBay. It has a 4.5-inch (854 ×480 pixels) FWVGA IPS display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Samsung invests Rs. 517 crores for the expansion of Noida mobile phone plant

Samsung India today announced that it has invested INR. 517 crores for the expansion of the Noida plant under the UP Mega Policy. The plan was inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow today. Samsung’s latest Z1 Tizen smartphone will also be manufactured at the Noida facility with most of the phone’s software being developed at the Noida Research Centre, it said. LG has launched Ice Cream Smart (LG-F440L), the company’s latest Android flip phone in Korea. It has a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera without flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes with 4G connectivity with VoLTE. It released Wine Smart flip phone last year, and this comes with a similar T9 keypad, a dedicated key to launch Kakao Talk messenger and a powerful 1W speaker. Xiaomi launched the Mi 3 smartphone in India back in July. It temporarily discontinued the smartphone in August, but it brought back the smartphone during Diwali in limited quantities for those who tried to buy the smartphone and failed earlier. Since BT confirmed they were in talks to buy EE and not O2, there’s been a lot of rumours that Three UK owner Hutchinson Whampoa Limited (HWL) would attempt to acquire O2 in a bid to strengthen its UK position. This morning the company have issued a press release confirming they are in exclusive talks to buy O2 UK from Spanish parent Telefónica, S.A. in a deal worth £9.25 billion.
