POCO just launched the POCO M3, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the M series in India, as it had promised. The phone packs a 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD Dotdrop screen with 90.34% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 662 SoC with 6GB of RAM, 48-megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash along with a 2-megapixel 4cm macro sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Xiaomi files complaint against US Department of Defense for being added to blacklist

About two weeks ago, the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced a list of 9 companies that were being added to a blacklist of companies that were believed to be controlled by the Chinese Military. Xiaomi has now filed an official complaint against the ruling, claiming that the decision was “factually incorrect” and subsequently they are trying to reverse it.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 with 6.78-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 888, 6000mAh battery, dot-matrix lighting gets certified

After live images that surfaced recently, the upcoming ASUS ROG Phone 5 with the model number ASUS_I005DA has been certified by MIIT and TENAA that reveals the design of the smartphone and some specifications. On the bottom-left part of the back there is a dot matrix Aura Lighting that shows the ROG logo, but it should be customizable using the software.  A similar dot matrix design was seen in Lightning Armor case that was launched with the ROG Phone 3. Xiaomi Mi 11 and MIUI 12.5 global launch set for February 8

Xiaomi has started sending out invites for the launch of its Mi 11 flagship smartphone globally, after it was introduced in China last month. It will also introduce the MIUI 12.5, the next MIUI update for the global markets on the same day. It is doubtful if we can see the Mi 11 Pro at the event since it is expected to be introduced in China first. However, we can expect the Mi 11 Lite which is rumoured to pack a Snapdragon 732G SoC or possibly a Mi 10 version called the Mi 10s with Snapdragon 870. LG reports record profit in 2020 but mobile losses continue

LG Electronics today reported revenues of 63.26 trillion won (US$ 56.45 billion), up 1.53% YoY for the whole 2020 and 18.78 trillion won (US$ 16.76 billion) fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2020, which is up 16.9% compared to the same quarter last year. Worldwide PC and tablet shipments reach 458.2 million units in 2020, 17% YoY growth: Canalys

In a report by Canalys, worldwide PC shipments, which include tablet shipments, has reached 458.2 million units during 2020, which calculates to a growth of 17% YoY. During the 4th quarter alone, the market shipped 143.7 million units, which is a growth of 35% YoY. Leading the market is Lenovo, followed by Apple, HP, Dell, and Samsung.

Telegram update v7.4.0 adds ability to import WhatsApp chats, improved chat deletion controls and more

Telegram has released a new update to their Android and iOS apps, bringing the version to 7.4.0. In the update, Telegram is adding the ability to import chats from a few other messaging apps, more chat deletion options, a few improvements to voice chats and some new app animations on Android.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 5G with FHD+ AMOLED Infinity-O display, quad rear cameras surface in press renders

After the CAD renders of the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 5G last month, now the press renders of the smartphones have surfaced, thanks to @evleaks. This shows a punch-hole display for both the smartphones and a rectangular rear camera housing with a quad camera setup in the Galaxy A52 5G. Based on earlier renders the Galaxy A72 5G is also expected to feature a similar quad camera setup but the position of the fourth camera and the LED flash are expected to be interchanged.
