Facebook launched Messenger Lite app for Android for emerging markets such as Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela back in October last year. In April this year it was launched in 132 more countries including Germany, Colombia, Italy, Vietnam, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan and the Netherlands, but India was not in the list. Huawei’s Honor brand launched its flagship Honor 8 Pro smartphone in India last week. It went on sale through Amazon.in during Prime Day sale along with offers. From tomorrow, July 13th, the phone will be available through open sale exclusively from Amazon.in. Honor said that it will be available with no cost EMI for a period of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months via Bajaj Finserv. Vodafone offers 45GB data for five months. These offers would be available for purchases made during July 13, 2017 to July 31, 2017.

Just yesterday, Maharashtra cyber police detained a man who was suspected to be involved in the recent Jio data user leak. The accused has been identified by his nickname ‘Imran Chippa’ and was arrested from Churu district in Rajasthan.

Lenovo-owned Moto just launched its latest Moto E4 Plus smartphone, as it had promised. The main highlight of the phone is its 5000mAh battery and comes with fast charging support using 10W rapid charger. It has a metal body, packs a fingerprint sensor on the front and runs Android 7.1.1 (Nougat).
FoneArena first reported about the massive data leak of over 120 million users of Reliance Jio users on Sunday. Now, a latest report from Reuters states that police have detained a suspect in western Indian state of Rajasthan. The man is suspected to be involved in leaking personal data of over 120 million Jio users to a website named “Magicapk.com”.

After Moto M, the Moto X Style has started receiving Android 7.0 (Nougat) update in India. It was launched in the country with Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) back in October 2015 and got the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in November 2015, so this is the third major update for the phone.

Xiaomi just sent out invites for the launch of its next Mi smartphone in India on July 18th. The invite says “Last year, we made ripples with this new category and now it is back. Join us in witnessing the return on ‘BIG’ at Xiaomi media briefing” that clearly hints at the launch of Mi Max 2, successor of last year’s Mi Max.
Uber, Amazon and Google are working towards foraying into Unified Payment Interface (UPI), according to a latest report from ET. According to National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the cab aggregator is expected to launch UPI via BHIM app integration by this month.

Indian government has finally approved Amazon India’s proposed $500 million investment in food retail. The news comes a month after Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal stated that the government will soon clear the investment. The proposal was pending before the foreign investment promotion board (FIPB) which has been abolished now.
