Worldwide Wearable shipments reach 32 million units, up 21.7% YoY in Q3 2018: IDC

According to IDC, the global shipments of wearable devices reached 32.0 million units in the Q3 2018, up 21.7% from the previous year. New products from the likes of Fitbit, Garmin, and Huawei helped the basic wearables category return to growth during the quarter. Another factor was the growing demand in markets like Asia which accounted for more than half of all shipments and grew 21.4% compared to the previous year. Amazfit Verge smartwatch, Health Band 1S with ECG Sensor, Huangshan No. 1 AI wearable chip announced

Xiaomi’s eco system company Huami just introduced new Xiaomi products – Verge smartwatch, Health Band 1S and its first Huangshan No. 1 SoC for wearable devices. Both the smartwatch and smart band are water resistant, and have continuous heart rate monitoring. The band also comes with ECG  sensor to gather ECG data to identify health risks. The smartwatch has NFC support for payments.

Xiaomi Mi Band 3 sales cross 5 million globally in 3 months, NFC Edition available from September 19

Xiaomi introduced the Mi Band 3 along with the Mi 8 in China back in May, and the fitness tracker when on sale on June 5th. The company already announced that it has sold 1 million units of the Mi Band 3 in just 17 days. Today the company has announced that the sales have now crossed 5 million units globally in just 3 months of launch. Amazfit Cor fitness band and Amazfit Pace Multisport GPS Smartwatch launched in India for Rs. 3999 and Rs. 9999

After the BIP and Stratos that were launched in July, Huami’s Amazfit has launched Cor fitness band and Amazfit Pace Multisport GPS Smartwatch with support for tracking 12 different sports. The Cor has 5 ATM water-resistant rating and the Pace has IP67 ratings.

Amazfit Cor water-resistant fitness tracker with heart rate sensor launching in India this September

After the BIP and Stratos that were launched in July, Amazfit is gearing up to launch a Fitness band in India. According to teasers on social media channels, it will be the Cor, a fitness band with heart rate, activity and sleep tracker, and 316L marine-grade stainless steel housing and 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass body. Honor Band 4 with 0.95-inch AMOLED color display, 50-meter water resistance and Honor Band 4 Running Edition announced

Huawei’s Honor brand along with the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max, also introduced Honor Band 4, successor of Honor Band 3. It has a 0.95-inch AMOLED color 2.5D curved glass touch screen display in addition to Home button, comes with continuous heart rate tracking and is also water resistant up to 50 meters with Swim stroke recognition.

Indian wearables shipments cross 1 million in Q2 2018, Xiaomi leads with 45.8% share: IDC

According to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC), the wearables market in India has witnessed a growth in the second quarter of 2018 (2018Q2) as the overall wearables market grew 66% year-over-year (YOY) and 40% sequentially, making it the biggest quarter for the wearables category in India. Fastrack Reflex 2.0 water-resistant fitness tracker with OLED display launched for Rs. 1995

Fastrack has launched its Reflex 2.0 fitness tracker, successor of last year’s Reflex. It has an OLED display, which enables users to be notified of incoming calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages and shows physical activities as well as calories consumed. It has IPX6 ratings for dust and water resistance and promises up to 10 days of battery life. Bangalore based Smartron calls itself India’s first global OEM and IoT brand. True to their name, the company has dabbled in a range of products including the t-book and the t.phone. The products might not have been smash hits in the market but they’ve certainly proven that Smartron has some good ideas and the capability to deliver on those. The Smartron t.band is the company’s entry into the wearable space and here too, the promise goes beyond what the competition offers. Lenovo today launched  HX06 Active Smartband, couple of months after launching the HX03 Cardio and HX03F Spectra bands. It is water-resistant and comes with OLED Monochrome display that shows activity, time, date and more. It doesn’t have a heart rate sensor.
