It has a 5.2 (1440×2560 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Sony introduced the Xperia Z3 series that includes, Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and the Z3 Tablet Compact devices at the IFA 2014 last month. Futuremark has released PCMark benchmarking tool for Android. It has Work benchmark that lets you measure both performance and battery life. It also shows you how your device’s CPU clock frequency, CPU average usage, temperature and battery charge level changed while the benchmark was running. The app is 23 MB, and the Work benchmark is a 400 MB download, installed when you first run the app. More benchmarks will be added over time, says the company.
Lava has launched QPAD R704, the company’s latest tablet in the QPAD series. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display, similar to the QPAD e704 tablet that was launched earlier this year, but this is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor instead of a Broadcom processor. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) that is upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat), has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. Google has supported free phone calls to the U.S. and Canada through Hangouts for over a month. Today, the company is offering free one minute calls for 25 other countries including India. The initiative that is limited till end of 2014 will offer first minute of any international call free for the listed 25 countries.

Celkon has launched XION S CT6595, the company’s latest phablet. It has a 6.95-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.4..2 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera. We had seen several top-end phablets from several Indian OEMs, but this is one of the few phablets priced less than Rs. 10,000. Asus will release Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Zenfone series of smartphones along with a couple of Padfone devices. The Taiwanese electronic makers plan about the update has been leaked on company’s ZenTalk forum.
