Google recently rolled out an update on Google Assistant that enables users to schedule lights on and off timings. Anyone who has a Google Home and smart lights know the drill. This feature allows users to schedule a smart home command to trigger at a later time. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 in India almost a year back. The smartphone recently started receiving Android 10 based MIUI 12 update in several regions including India. Though Google, a couple of months back, officially announced Android 11, some users of Redmi Note 8 – which was the best-selling Android smartphone in the first quarter, are yet to receive Android 10 update on their devices (we too have not received the update on our device yet).

realme today announced that it has sold more than 8.3 million smartphones and AIoT products during realmeFestiveDays from October 15th to November 16th. Out of the total, 6.3 million were smartphones that includes 1.35 Million Narzo phones, 1.2+ Million C11 phones and 1.6 Million realme 7 series phones, witnessing a 20% growth compared to the festive season last year. Essential, the company that introduced notches in the smartphone, is now no more. Founded by Android co-founder Andy Rubin, announced its closure earlier this year. The company’s only product, Essential Phone, sold poorly and received mixed reviews as well. Other promised devices operating system and home assistant never really materialised. Keeping up with the tradition, OnePlus launched the ‘T’ version of the OnePlus 8 series in India a few weeks back. The OnePlus 8T is similarly spec’d as its predecessor, but, it carries few upgrades too – 65W charger, a 200mAh battery bump-up, 5MP macro camera, 2MP depth camera and 120Hz display. However, the upgrades becomes meaningful only if it’s implemented right.

Samsung launched the Galaxy M31s smartphone running One UI 2.1 in India back in July. Now it has released new One UI 2.5 update for the phone in India that brings several features including Alt Z Life that adds Quick Switch and Secure Folder that are coming to M series for the first time. The Quick Switch lets users easily switch between normal and private mode instances of the same app with the simple double click of the power button. Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series smartphones with 5G support last week. A tear down video from China has confirmed that the phone uses Qualcomm SDX55 5G modem, which is X55 5G that is also used with Snapdragon 865. The iPhone 11 series used Intel XMM7660 4G mode. We all know that good software is a crucial component of the overall experience of a smartphone and OPPO knows that too. After OxygenOS developer build and Open Beta updates based Android 11, OnePlus just announced that it has started rolling out OxygenOS 11 stable update for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones. This comes before the launch of OnePlus 8T smartphone launch next week, which will run OxygenOS 11 out of the box. OnePlus should also confirm the roll out details for older OnePlus 7 series phones at the launch event next week. HMD Global today released its timeline for upgrading its Android
11-ready portfolio to the latest Android OS. The rollout is planned to commence in Q4 2020 starting with Nokia 8.3 5G and the Nokia 5.3. Owners of the Nokia 2.2 and Nokia 8.1 will also be among the first to experience Android 11 this year, said the company.
