Apple launches new service that lets you automatically transfer your photos from iCloud to Google Photos

Apple has recently started offering a way that let iCloud users transfer their photos and videos to Google Photos quickly and easily.

According to the Apple support document, users need to go to Apple’s privacy website (privacy.apple.com) and sign in to see the “Transfer a copy of your data” option.

As per the company, the transfer process takes around somewhere from three days to a week.

There are a few prerequisites, where a user needs to turn on two-factor authentication for Apple ID, and secondly, the user must have enough storage (at least 30GB) on their Google Photos account to complete the transfer.

Apple says few things like Smart Albums, Live Photos, photo stream content, some metadata, and some RAW photos cannot be transfered.

Notably, this does not remove or delete the contents already stored from iCloud Photo Library, rather it provides a backup method.

At present, the feature is currently only available to people in Australia, Canada, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

If you are planning to switch from iPhone to Android, this method could very well help you in transferring the photos and videos.
